Slang has biased in every sect.

But i would think if a Black can call another Black Nigga (mods please edit out if still not appropriate in this example)

then i would think its okay for a White person to call another White person Cracka?

and an Asian can call Another Asian a nip or whatever?

etc? Etc?

if this is not the case, i would love to hear why one is okay and the other is not?

Well, cracka doesn't have the historical context that ***** or ***** do. Cracker was a class based "slur", not a race based slur.

So this is appropriate?

In my opinion, yes. Technically, it's racist but if we're being honest, the power and perniciousness of racism and hate speech in general is its ability to make people feel unsafe in this society, unsafe for their lives, their rights and their status in our society. That's why even mainstream sitcoms have never had any problem lampooning white people as lame and uncool--because white people aren't at risk in our society. My using "cracker" in a joke about a woman trying to disenfranchise millions of people isn't going to make anyone feel unsafe for their lives, rights or status in society.

I'm not one of the people who goes as far as saying "white people can't be the victim of racism," but I understand where that sentiment comes from. White people (in our society) can't feel the true bite of racism. That makes them a safe population to harmlessly make a few jokes at their expense. This is a situation where I think it's appropriate to suggest you might want to be a little less sensitive. Do the millions of jokes about how white guys can't dance tear at your soul? Is "White Men Can't Jump" the reverse-racist screed of the 1990s?

fair enough. What about redneck or white trash?

Watch the video I posted. They're clearly about rich people ripping on poor people having to work for living. Red neck = back of your neck is red because you work out in the fields.

White trash = you are a trashy person.

Think about it. When someone drops the N bomb, what is it's historical context based on? Making African-Americans/blacks subhuman. They were barely considered 3/5th a person (and even that was for voting purposes only).

When you think of cracker/cracka, you think of someone who is just a poor loser, who might be uncouth, slovenly or lazy. It's about their *class* , not their *race*. ****** wasn't about their class, but their (implied) lack of human qualities.

I think it's just like how some people drop letters in words.

Like how british people will say "sah-er-day" instead of "saTurday"

ive always thought of it as the “er” being serious and hateful and the “a” meaning friend or compadre.

It might be, I don't know. I'm not an expert on that aspect of it.

As someone who is German, I don't give two shits if you call me kraut.
Well, you don't speak for everyone...I'm from the south and I've been referred to as a "cracker" before, and I did care two shits about it.

I checked it over and I'm satisfied that it's within the bounds of good taste. Whether it's a good joke is more to individual taste.

A racist lie.

It's the exact same as the"n" word.

Nobody anywhere in the world thinks about the undeniably racist slurs Cracker and Redneck as referring to anyone else than subgroups of Caucasians, supposedly subhumans due to their alleged ignorance or lack of inherited wealth.
Only a racist would even attempt to argue the obvious point.

Did you make boom-boom in your pamper?

The term "redneck" came from a slang term for farmers who ride tractors, horses, etc all day in the sun....and get sunburned....it originally was like calling them "cowboy" To compare the term to the "n" word is about as ignorant as a person could get with linguistic definitions.....calling someone a cracker today probably has more to do with the drug.."crack" than with the snack. It's like saying..."junkie"......genitalia or the ass in general has always been used for derogatory remarks...cunt, dick, asshole, dickhead.....I do'nt know why. We all should probably rethink some verbal muscle memories we've had since chilhood...I don't have a problem with being called yank or mick....I remember being called hippy when I was young

Union coal miners & teachers in the early 20th wore red bandannas around their necks for solidarity too. Coal miners wore them in the mines.

That might be the dumbest counter argument ever made.

Like literally, the dumbest thing ever.

I've always found "cracker" to be a racist term, and so it's wrong. But if you know anything about history, you know it's not even in the same league as the N word. It's apples and oranges.

Growing up I was taught that calling shiftless Caucasians “white trash” was same as calling a black person the “n” word and to not use either term. However, while I would never use the “n” word for any reason whatsoever, I have absolutely no shame or hesitation to use the term “white trash” when and if it is appropriate. If that makes me “racist”, then sue me.........
