haha you lose and win at the same time

It doesn't make me happy. That said, I've consistently said that this team can't build around Oden, and I've been flamed for it for 2+ years. I'm and so sorry for Greg, and I honestly want him to be a SUPERSTAR, but I've never seen it in the cards for him. I hope he makes it happen.

In the meantime, everybody be sure to get their licks in for me "being happy" about this dark night.

Okay!

When something bad happens, the first dude who says "Called it!" is a dick by default. Just saying.

What now?

Who do we keep? With Oden back ANOTHER year, we need to seriously think about trading everyone except Roy, Aldridge and Rudy/Batum (choose one) to get a team that can get back to highly competative, playoff basketball.

Miller is now much too old to be with our "new" cast. He will be dealt. Same with Blake.
There is no way Miller is traded. That would be us regressing experience wise and that makes no sense whatsoever. We keep him this year and next and hope we can land another PG as good as him after that.

What do we need experience for when we are not competative? Oden is the key, next year is his "year of growth" and by the year after that, Miller will be an old man.

I agree with Papa G that the team should not build around Oden. And I think he's right to bring up betting, because betting involves percentages; and looking at the facts (three major injuries in 5 years), one cannot realistically think there is a high chance that Oden will go on to play many injury free years.

im all for the start bayless now plan

lets see what we have in him, he could be a damn brandon jennings waiting in the wings. same with rudy. lets let these horses run.

If that's the case, then I don't mind being kicked for a night. Although I've been kicked for 2+ years for basically predicting this. I guess I'm used to it.

what exactly did you predict?

what exactly did you predict?

You don't build and offense around an injury-prone C with a limited offensive game. Seems hoops 101 to me, but then, I'm not one of the "experts".

wait what? you predicted that you dont build an offense around someone? how does that even make a shred of sense?

sillyness.

PapaG, calm down. Everyone needs to. This is possibly the worst day in the history of the franchise. Bitching does nothing.

you cant back up your bullshit. big surprise. but im the troll.:biglaugh:

you lose.

tell me... what did you predict???

Welcome to ignore. I already explained what I "predicted". Projecting your anger on me isn't accomplishing a thing.

I agree. It's a huge loss. That said, having "global moderators" ride my jock isn't helping.

Kee-rist, I can't even ignore a global mod who is harassing me.

Later.

Hey Papa G, anyone who comes on here to say "See I told you so" after an injury to a guy like Greg
is a complete wanker.

I'm a homer and not a doctor, and I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express.

First, I don't think healed-up broken kneecaps cause loss of athleticism like, say, torn ACL or something.
Second, I think that Greg's still plenty young enough to continue his skill development.
Third, no one's debating that Greg's defensive ability is leaps and bounds above where it was last year due in part to recovery from MF and increase in BBIQ.

I still think that he'll be great defensively, better offensively and no loss of athleticism. Possibly as soon as April.

Well, you got one part right...you're not a doctor.

You have to give me at least two...I didn't stay at a hotel this morning either.

Live with it till pendergraph is back in a couple of weeks

Okay, what do you know that BrianfromWA doesn't?

Not sure what he knows or doesn't know....but:

1. He isn't a doctor and neither am I.

2. My opinion is that they will not know/announce the extent of any further problems regarding ligaments until after the surgery is done. So, I think it's a little premature to assume this injury will not have lingering effects on Greg. Obviously, I hope it's just the knee cap, but they won't know until later.

3. This injury is pushing me to the "injury prone camp". I mean 1 wrist, 1 MF knee, 1 knee cap injury, now this...a serious fracture that occurred without contact...I guess I'm finally feeling that the writing is on the wall with Greg and he's not a centerpiece that can be relied on...

Ankle shouldn't count in my opinion. Almost every basketball player suffers multiple ankle sprains a year, some sideline the player, some don't.

I say tank it.

It might be crass and unconventional, but we'll be stronger next year as a result of it. It will also give us some insurance if GO has long term residual effects from this injury.

Probably right, I almost didn't put it in there but I was on a roll. I agree the ankle doesn't really count...deleting...
