Nothing wrong with a little weed.

If you can get him later in the round he'd be a steal. He's a bit like Pekovic, but more mobile.

.......and that's if he's 100%

Mitch McGary would be a steal as backup PF/C. Really want that guy. Adrien Payne would be great as well. Both would bolster our bench while bringing immediate contributions IMO.

This Elfrid Payton cat is supposedly a lock down defender. Not a bad guy coming off the bench to spell Lillard and Matthews. I think Olshey finds a way to get into this draft.

Had he came out last year he would've been in the running with our lotto pick.

This year you can get him in the 20's.

Embiid is a monster:

7'1" w/shoes
7'6" wingspan
9'5.5" standing reach

@chadfordinsider

Jabari has the size to play PF:

6'9" w/shoes
7'0" wingspan
8'11.5" standing reach

Solid article from Grantland on the top of the draft. All three NBA scouts agree that Embiid would be the obvious #1 choice if injury wasn't a concern.

Andrew Wiggins

Scout 1: Don’t trust his shot or his ball skills. Can’t go left. There is no “fuck you” to him. Kobe’s like, “Fuck you, I’m better than you.” Where was that? I think he is a content player. That’s not Bill Self’s fault — he didn’t tell him not to shoot.

He can be your third-best player, but not your best. Say he goes to Orlando. What’s he going to do as an offensive player? Shoot them to more wins? He has one of the best second/third jumps I’ve ever seen and he’ll have some “Fuck … look at that” moments. But that’s not his personality.

Chad Ford (1:49 PM)

Well ... that's certainly a best case scenario. I love Payton and think he's the sleeper of the draft -- something I've been saying for months. The guy he reminds me the most of is a young Gary Payton. Same game, same body and similar toughness on the court. But that's obviously a ceiling for him. But if he had played at Kentucky or Duke? He'd be a lock for the Top 10. After Exum and Smart are gone, he'll battle Tyler Ennis for the next point guard off the board. I think the Kings at No. 8 are probably his ceiling. Hornets at 9, Magic at 12, Hawks at 15, Celtics at 17 are other options. Don't think he slides past Toronto at 20.

Just finished watching this video of the 2013 Nike Hoop Summit (2 hours long) -

For team USA:
Jabari Parker
Julius Randle
Aaron Gordon
Noah Vonleh
The Harrison twins

For the World:
Andrew Wiggins
Dante Exum
Joel Embiid
Dennis Schroeder
Livio Jean-Charles

I think he does too. Good info

The Knicks are desperately trying to get a first round pick.

Last week they held a private workout with PJ Hairston.

I think this guy can be a Wes Matthews type. The Knicks suck but they always draft very well.

I like the idea of Payton. I think you could eventually start him next to Lillard.

But it looks like he's climbing into the lotto and #8 to the Kings is a real possibility.

Pay attention to the defense:

^ Chad Ford (chadfordinsider) -- he also called him the biggest sleeper in this draft. Apparently he and Vonleh are killing it in workouts.

Neil is aware:

Since Blazers general manager Neil Olshey used consecutive top 10 draft picks on two four-year, mid-major players, it wasn’t surprising to find him in the stands at the University of Texas at Arlington on a bitterly cold early February night. He was there getting a first-hand look at a junior point guard in the Sun Belt Conference.
“Elfrid Payton,” Lillard said, totally aware of the 6-foot-3 Louisiana-Lafayette prospect, a potential late first-round, early second-round draft pick.

I'm glad Neal shares my eye for talent. BTW, McGary would be a perfect fit as a role playing big coming off the bench. Yikes, lots of nice options in this draft. Get the wheels moving Neal.

LaVine with Wiggens-like vertical.

Micic measured in at a legit 6'6" at Eurocamp. This makes him even more intriguing. He has Rubio-esque vision fwiw:

Wouldn't be a bad idea to have a (6'6") Pablo Prigioni next to Dame.

Doesn't it seem like there isn't as much draft chatter than in past years? Like who's working out where and what teams are trying to trade for picks?

I'm realize we don't have a pick, but I think we'll trade for one. Seriously though, just not much chatter.

I would LOVE if neil traded for payton. I'm sure he could come up with a package to get into the mid 1st range to take him.

Knicks decide to go with a no experience coach as they sign Fisher. Personally I think they should have gone with either Mark Jackson or brought back Jeff Van Gundy.

He hasn't been on my radar since we have so many SG's (CJ, Will, Wes, Crabbe) but the advanced stats guys LOVE Jordan Adams.

HoopsAnalyst is also very high on Adams.

Seems like an Afflalo type of steal waiting to happen.

Andrew Wiggins:

6'8.75" w/shoes
8'11" standing reach. <<-- insane for a SG/SF

Notables from Ford's latest mock:

*Vonleh leapfrogs Exum to #4
*Elfrid Payton now in the lotto. The Lakers like him at #7.
*Kyle Anderson nearly falls out of the first round

Anyone taking Vonleh ahead of Exum is crazy. Vonleh is not higher than maybe 8 or 10 on my list. Exum is either 1st or 2nd, for the Blazers specifically I would even take him ahead of Wiggins.
Anderson I predict would be a big steal. If he falls out of the 1st round he'd be the biggest steal in this draft.

I dunno about Jordan Adams. He was a crafty, physical guy in college but his measurements are pretty damning. Hes got a power-guard kind of game but I don't know if it will work in the league. He came in at 6'3.5 barefoot and a shade under 6'5, 6'10 wingspan, and a trim 209 lbs (reportedly played around 230lbs in college?!). His vertical leap and speed/agility numbers were all bottom 3 for his position group in this combine. Hes going to have a hell of a time trying to defend NBA 2's who will basically all be either much more athletic and/or much taller than he is. I don't see him being able to drive on anyone. He can post smaller 2's but I doubt he'd be very successful against the bigger SGs. His game reminds me a bit of Bonzi Wells. I just think he has to overcome a lot of deficiencies right now to make it in the NBA.

Where do you guys think Kyle Anderson will play in the NBA? My fascination with him has been reignited and lately I've become extremely intrigued with the idea of making him a full-time PF. I was pretty surprised he measured 230 lbs as he looks pretty damn scrawny and undefined. I think with an NBA training staff he'll get up to 240 lbs. and still be lean as hell no problem, and could probably add more if he forced the issue. He has a slow release on his jumper but such a high release and he naturally leans back a lot, yet hes improved with it. Rebounding is a strength of his. Hes a crap athlete for a wing but with his handles hes a nightmare cover for PFs. He needs to become a fearsome 3 pt shooter and add some kind of go-to moves in the high post area.

I think that's a solid comparison for him, also I think Wes Matthews is another comparison that fits. He's not athletic but I think he's going to get by with his IQ and knack for scoring, like Z-Bo.

Anderson at PF is likely his best fit. Clearly doesn't have the foot speed to guard the perimeter. One thing that's overlooked is his 9'0" reach -- that's on par with PF/C's.

a surprising number of GMS see Smart more as a 2 than a 1. He can play both positions. -Chad Ford

I can see that - he's built like a bull at nearly 230 lbs. There aren't many guards, outside of maybe Joe Johnson, that have that kind of mass. He may be only 6'3" but good luck trying to push him around on the block. Would be a great fit next to Dame IMO. I could see him going over Exum to Orlando at #4.
