I thought those charts were a joke at first, but if they're real, that's some of the coolest statistical imagery I've seen. I can't imagine they'd really be so uniform though.

Is it just me, or are ref's making calls at the end of games that bail out teams that are in confusion?

I noticed at the end of the Blazer's game, Lillard was called for a foul, where it looked like he wasn't trying to foul the guy but should have, given the clock situation. The ref blew the whistle, and Lillards reaction was like, "what foul!?," even though it would have actually been smart to foul.

I just noticed the same thing watching the GS/NY replay. Klay Thompson got called for a foul when the Warriors needed to at the end of the regulation, after barely touching the guy. He had the same, "what foul!?" reaction, even though it was the smart move for the Warriors to foul.

It's almost like in both situations, the refs were anticipating the guys would be going for the smart move (the foul), even if that's not what was going through their head.

...that's the "best" GS highlight-maker on the web?! :dunno:

What were you expecting? Special effects?

I was just giving the guy credit because he makes great extended highlight vids after most wins. He made an exception in the loss tonight and made just Curry highlights.

Here is the study

http://www.sloansportsconference.co...of Interior Defense Analytics for the NBA.pdf

Aldridge ranks

5th in FG% against : Basket Proximity Shots faced when defender was within 5 feet of basket..

19th in proximal FG%: The results summarize the FG% of opponents when each defender was within 5 feet.

Hickson ranks

Not listed in top 52 in FG% against : Basket Proximity Shots faced when defender was within 5 feet of basket.

Not listed in top 52 in proximal FG%: The results summarize the FG% of opponents when each defender was within 5 feet.

Someone double check, but I didn't see Hickson's name anywhere on the page. I saw Leonard's though

They might have just not included Hickson in the study.

But that study does show that Aldridge really isn't a bad defender.

Motiejunas' first start 13/7/5 in 26 minutes

4-9 from field
1-2 from 3pt
4-4 from FT

Man I'd love to get that guy. He's a guy that really could be the next Dirk....or at least Dirk light

I've been wanting that guy since summer league.

He was projected as a top 2 pick at one point.

espn

Playoff eligibility deadline officially 11:59 PM Friday night. So long as waivers requested by 11:59 ET, player is eligible for playoffs

Kevin Durant: 3rd career triple-double of career on Wednesday night, his 2nd in last 4 games

"Tim Duncan: On Wednesday became 11th player in NBA history with 20,000 points and 13,000 rebounds"

I'm rather surprised it took him so long to climb as high as 11th in a stat that it seems like he's owned for much of the past 15 years.

Doesn't the fact that
(a) that study has "defense" in the title, but
(b) Andrea Bargnani ranks second in the league by their measure
totally invalidate it?

Has he not been going to their games?

Don't know. Think they wrote an article about this because it will be at the RG:

Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune reports on Twitter that former Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy will make his first trip to the Rose Garden this season when his Minnesota Timberwolves come to town on Saturday night.

Roy says he plans to sit behind the bench during Saturday's game at Portland, says he has no idea how he'll feel because he's not playing

Roy, 28, did not accompany the Timberwolves during their first trip to Portland, on Nov. 23, because he underwent arthroscopic knee surgery. He attended one Blazers game last season, surprising former Blazers guard Jamal Crawford for his birthday back in March 2012.

Noah has 23 points, 20 rebounds, 11 blocks, and 3 steals with 15 secs left tonight

Harlem shake as funny for a minute..... that minute has passed.

I never even really thought it was funny for a minute... sort of self-important and annoying...

The LeBron gif on the other hand,... that'll live on well after the fad's over...
