THE "OFFICIAL" AROUND THE NBA 2012-13 THREAD...........

I always root for the UNDESERVING player to get voted in as a starter and it fucks everything up! That way the league will finally see how jacked up the system is!

If the NBA didn't realize how jacked up the system was in 2001 when Grant Hill was an All-Star after only playing four games, I don't think having undeserving fan favorites like Garnett or Lin will open their eyes. They love that shit...

i think green font is needed here.... cp3 is out with swollen knee... mike conley played like shit.... therefore cp3 dominated conley

No green font was needed if you actually follow the NBA.

Come on, Platypus. That was an egregious error!

Utah might not make the playoffs, but if they do, they're another one of those teams that can create a mismatch for some of the teams at the top. Their frontcourt is seriously intimidating. I'd take Jefferson in the All-Star Game before they give two Golden State players nods.

It's a shame, because both Curry and Lee are having All-Star years, but I don't think that players like Parker, Gasol, and Jefferson should be left out of the All-Star game so that the fifth place team can have two All-Stars.

You're not going to get any sympathy from Warriors fans about the fairness of getting two guys in over a guy on the 9th place team. The W's haven't had an all-star since Sprewell in 1997 and every time their guy gets snubbed it was "because of team record". Agree that the Warriors sitting at the 5th seed don't necessarily deserve two guys, but as a longtime Warriors fan I would argue that a team in 9th place in their conference doesn't deserve one all-star, at least thats what we've been told all these years.

That said it isn't looking very likely that Curry makes it (its down to him and Parker and I think Parker has the better case in almost every category), and even though Lee has been a top 3 PF he may not make it either.

What's up with this garbage Bucks team I'm watching lose to the Lakers right now? I can't watch this shit.

Eastern Conference man... they're a playoff team in the East...

Jennings and Ellis in the backcourt is a recipe for disaster. I know that Bogut overstayed his welcome with the injuries, but whoever thought that Ellis was the answer needs to be reevaluated.

BTW - Aside from Ersan Ilyasova being overpaid in general, does anyone know his real age? He's listed at only 25, but if I remember correctly, his birth certificate was in question when he was playing overseas. There's a lot of sketchy stuff going on there, and if he's actually 28 instead of 25, that makes the contract that much worse.

@KingJames passed 20,000pt & 5,000ast thresholds in his 726th career game. Per ELIAS, only Oscar reached those #s in fewer gms (671)

China just missed - just said on TNT that Paul beat out Lin by about 45000 votes. that's less than 5% difference.

in a round about way, that helps LaMarcus. If Lin had started, Paul obviously would've been one of the backups.

I wonder how much of that is "China" and how much of that was the average dumbass fan that got swept up in "Linsanity."

I mean the guy's a Christian from California whose parents are originally from Taiwan. It's not exactly like he's Yao Ming.

What was that noise that Kevin Harlan just made mid-sentence??

"NNNOMMMM!!!" is what it sounded like. What the hell? Then he just kept on talking like nothing happened.

Thats how it used to be for years and years until the league decided that record no longer mattered when Blake Griffin/Kevin love got in the AS game two years ago.

Rubio just bricked a wide open layup.

Scoring ability/finishing: Sergio Rodriguez >>>>>>>>>>>>> Ricky Rubio.

And it's not close.

I guess this should actually go here:

Speaking of tonight's game against the Clipps, look at Pekovic's stat line. He wasn't even in foul trouble and he put up very modest totals.

It did look like both teams played small-ball but I can't help but get the feeling that he is going to get paid more-so because he is a big than for actually deserving it. Don't get me wrong, he is a pretty good player. Just not a max player.

Agreed. He's an above average player and a valuable asset in a weak big man era, but teams need to start overpaying for the Roy Hibberts of the world. I'd be irate if my team offered Pekovic anything close to max.

Your team has Marc Gasol. OF COURSE YOU'D BE IRATE!

i think we are far enough removed from linsanity that there has to be a pretty big
asian contingent driving the vote, although it probably is more generic and not specifically china.

Marc's underpaid. He does things on the court that Hibbert could only dream of doing, in terms of facilitating. His contributions don't always show up in the terms of the stat friendly PPG and RPG, but he's more of a reason for the Grizz's success than Z-Bo, or anyone else for that matter.

I know I probably come off as a huge homer, but that's the truth, at least as far as I see it.

I know the Grizz will probably only have one All-Star this year, especially with our horrible losing streak going on right now (that really has more to do with Hollins than anything), and I'm a huge proponent of Z-Bo's, but Marc Gasol deserves the "franchise" player tag and deserves the All-Star bid if we only get one.

The thing is... we're far removed from Linsanity, but we're not the kind of people who vote for the All-Star starters. The sort of people who stuff the ballot box are the kind of people that are still hyped up by Jeremy Lin. I'm sure there's a definite Asian contingent, but there's also the same contingent of little kids and passive fans that voted for guys like Vince Carter the season he only played six games. The casual or young fan will eat up a story like Linsanity and run with it.

Believe me, I want Marc Gasol so bad for the Blazers it's not even funny. To me he's the best center in the league.

I like gasol, but I think Tyson Chandler is a better fit next to Aldridge.

Moot point though. No way either would be available

What a bad night for basketball.

My beloved Blakers lost and so did my egg-sucking Timberdogs.

How can I go on?

No lie, Gasol is the best big man that any team could have, not only because he's a great passer but because he's such a threat to score at any place on the court. I've never seen any post player make passes in the paint like Gasol can. He can be double-teamed and thread the needle to Z-Bo like it's nothing. He's the perfect compliment to any big man. I'm frustrated with our coaching staff for not utilizing him enough.

I think he's brought down, in part, because of his name. Pau Gasol was a soft, pick-and-pop player that gained the reputation as a passer because he kept the defense honest with his mid-range game, but his brother, Marc, has taken it to a whole nother level. He's anything but soft, plays great defense, and can make passes in post-up situations.

More than anything, Gasol's not a "stats" guy. He just values the win. He passes up a lot of opportunities to score to give guys like Rudy Gay a clear path to the basket, and he never forces the issue. He's the epitome of wins first/stats later player.

Speaking of stats though, Gasol might be the first player in NBA history to be top 10 in both FT% and blocks per game. If that doesn't speak to his game, I don't know what does.

Anyone notice that Kobe, in the scheme of things, didn't get that many votes. If half of Portland voted 8 times, we could get all of our starters voted in.

Do you really think the NBA would allow that to happen?

They'd rig the vote. There is no way the NBA would want the Portland Trail Blazers be the WC's starting team for the ASG.

Pistons give up 19 point lead and Holiday ties it for Philly on a play that should have been an and-one.

OT in the who cares bowl, but Holiday is a nice player.

Carlos Boozer 19 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists as Chicago beat Boston in OT. His last assist was for the game winner by Belinelli with 3 seconds left.

It was an exciting game but Boston was robbed. Butler fouled Pierce and they didn't call it. Then Noah ties him up and the rest is history.
