Vasquez is averaging 9.4 assists per game and the lineups he plays in the most often according to your own links have Roger Mason, Austin Rivers, and Eric Gordon as his backcourt mates, none of whom are averaging more than 3 assists per game. He initiates and runs their offense and plays with undersized SGs.

APG doesn't matter. Look at PER +/-. Vasquez is best when he's playing SG, or matched up against a SG. He's a very good player, and it's a shame that Portland whiffed on him. Vasquez would be great back-up PG on a playoff team. As it is now, he's the de facto starting PG for one of the worst teams in the league.

I like his game, don't get me wrong. I just don't think he's an elite starting PG or SG, and would be an incredible 6th Man on a contending team.

Yes, he's defended by and defends other similar sized players, that doesn't make the role he plays in his teams offense any different.

Semantics. I was praising the guy's game. I just don't see him as an elite starting PG on a title team, and instead could become a great 6th man on a title team because he has size and handles. He can't defend quick PGs well enough to offset his offense. His Ortg/Drtg is 104/111 this year. That is unacceptable for a 26 year-old PG. Off the bench, where the defense has to adjust to him, he'd be a solid part of a very good to great team.

PGs abuse him in PER +/-. At SG, he's a stud. Perfect 6th Man.

Agreed on the semantics, I see both sides but obviously have a preferential definition.

Also agreed on him not being an elite PG. Although I think like with most players who's size and skillset doesn't fit with league norms, and especially any kind of playmaker, their success depends on who he's paired up with in the back court and to a lesser extent the rest of the lineup. They were smart pairing him with players who are undersized and able to shoot from the outside, but they need someone who can actually defend PGs. Then they need more outside shooting, and with such a ball dominant player you're limited in how many other 'creators' you can roll out with before Vasquez loses effectiveness.

Nolan Smith is at least showing a few NBA skills and has passed Price in the rotation, and that is being a small player.

Vasquez has legitimate NBA size. I'm not saying Vasquez will be a star, but he's the type of do-it-all player who could be a 6th-Man of the Year candidate on a winning team.

Nolan Smith passed Price because Price got hurt

Price has been in uniform that last two games and hasn't played because of "Coach's Decision". He's been beat out for his back-up spot.

Jason Quick ‏@jwquick In Orlando, Blazers coach Stotts marvels at 14 healthy players for practice after Pavlovic (plantar fascitis) and Price (right ankle) join

Jason Quick ‏@jwquick
Pavlovic has missed last five games and Price the last four. Stotts didn't say whether either would be active for Sunday game at Orlando

Is anyone else glad we aren't the center of the injury universe this year? Has felt good to see that the Blazers aren't in the top 5 of games missed this year.

JINX!!!!!!!!!^

Oh I fully expect injuries to happen, but we aren't catching teams like Orlando/Philly/LA in games missed unless Wes/Nico/La go down for the year.

Spears

The Nuggets have won nine-straight games and are still 5 1/2 games behind the Thunder in the Northwest Division standings.

Jalen Rose has made himself into a great host. He used to be good on those segments for Fox a few years ago, but he's much better now.

Agreed. He's still a little dorky, but I think if he was off the show it'd be a train wreck.

It took 9-10 years of games on ABC/ESPN to finally have a decent in-house crew.

Watching Felton now, I feel like hating on him even more for his shit game last year.

No he hasn't. Price sucks, but he's still better than Smith.

Not true:

Both Pavlavic and Price are hurt and neither would play whether active or not. But since we can only have two inactives a game (and 1 is always Eliott Williams) Stotts has been rotating them both between inactive and active but with DNP: Coaches Decision.

The uniforms that the Heat are wearing today are so blindingly white, it's not funny.

Also, when did Ron Artest start moving around like my dad? It's hard to believe he's able to move around and score.

Carmelo was a bucket away from having half of his team's total points in a losing effort today.

My beloved L*kers didn't suck enough today against the Heatles, just not shitty enough for me. I wanted destruction, not just a loss.

Denver vs Boston????? The replay with 3 seconds left in regulation, even the Homer Denver announcers were shocked at the reversal by the refs. Not sure how they saw it Denver ball.

espn

Andrew Bynum told reporters in Philly tonight that he's started to experience some pain in his left knee & that its "just not ready yet."
