Politics The OFFICIAL Biden vs Trump Debate #1 Thread

Congress had a bi-partisan bill to fix the border and Trump asked the Republicans to vote against their own bill because it would make Biden look good. Trump doesn’t care about opening or closing the border. He just wants to win.

He wants to win to get out of trouble. He didn't run again because of Biden. He ran because his own ego and because his ass is in a sling.

The drugs didn't work this time Joe. I enjoyed reading the close caption's attempt to translate what Joe was saying. I can't be too hard on Joe, he's an old man, totally unfit to be in office. I hate his policies and his corruption, but can't mock someone for being an old geezer.

Trump ran him over like a bull over a crippled rodeo clown.

Fair question. Do you honestly feel you are living in hell? If yes, why?

Just when I think no one could possibly be deluded enough to not see how unfit Biden is to be in public office, I see a few hold outs in this forum. You people are amazing.

Biden got more minutes. Trump probably intended that, because Biden won the debate for Trump just by speaking and stumbling over his words.

Democrats are panicing over this. Will the Democrats actually run this guy?

Even the CNN panel, the guys that continually suck Biden off, are ripping him. The Democrats are demoralized, dejected, and devastated.

Biden looked and sounded old. Wasn't a great debate for him. But, he got through. He had good moments. There were few mistruths but he seemed to stick to the truth mostly. Didn't need the campaign promises.

Trump lied almost the whole time, spoke about how he had the best numbers, best everything, was the best president ever blah blah blah. He used fearmongering and lies.

They were against the ridiculous Ukraine spending in the package.
It’s time for adults to quit pretending they don’t know how omnibus bills work.
Yeah, 10s of billions for Ukraine, then a pittance for the border for things they don't need. The problem is the POLICIES Biden implemented.

It would be like if I went up to someone and said, "If you give me $50,000 I'll stop dumping garbage on your lawn". Then you say no, and I run around telling everyone you want people to dump garbage on your lawn because you refused a deal that would have prevented it.

I think Biden could have been much stronger on abortion and democracy. They are slam dunks.
No real standout moments. I don't know if it moved the needle.

Debates are weird. Clinton slayed Trump three times. Kerry out debated Bush.

Biden is not a good communicator, which is why a lot of people are unaware that good things happening were his policies.

Ah yes, love this line.

“You aren’t struggling. Things are good, economy is great, you just are too stupid to realize it.”

Van Jones on CNN asking Biden to step out of the race LOL!!!
Makes me wonder if Biden will step aside. This could be why we’re seeing debates so early, they wanted to see how things go before it’s too late to run someone else if things look bad, which they absolutely do.
They’d be smart to run someone else, as soon as possible.

I wouldn't be upset by that.

Tough to watch...Joe needs to step aside and let the party select another candidate id its not to late.

As a Republican would you really want that?

For him to step aside? No, Republicans wouldn't want that. Well Republicans that support Trump wouldn't want it. Republicans who want some one else to vote for might.

Well, there's the thing. The left-wingers on the CNN panel all were saying they were getting calls by Dems in a panic.

Contrast that to the GOP, which stands firmly behind someone who incited an insurrection and stands for almost nothing by which the American right identified itself in 2015.

The DNC runs scared too easily. It never plays to its strength. It's always playing defense. IMO, that's why it so often loses despite better policies and a proven track record of doing things that help more Americans.

Biden won this debate on policy and lost it on appearance. It's not ... check that, IT SHOULDN'T BE viewed as a clear defeat because Trump is unlikeable and untrustworthy and just reinforced that tonight and 1980 Christie Brinkley isn't a candidate in this race. The Dem leadership needed to take a page out of the Mitch McConnell/Kevin McCarthy playbook and just pretend the bad stuff didn't happen and present a strong, resolute front.

Instead, they're calling Peter King and Van Jones and saying the end of the world is nigh and we need to change horses in midstream.

This is a case where, as much as it might fly in the face of reason, you need to lead and you need to make your constituents feel this was at worst a minor defeat that wasn't the end of the world. Instead, their reaction is going to have all Dem and anti-Trump independent voters acting like they're in a dark theater and someone yelled fire.

I know you are pro-Trump or at least anti-Biden, beast. Obviously, I am very anti-Trump, but I'm trying to be as dispassionate as one can be about things.

The gaslighting by Trump was ridiculous. Biden wasn’t great but wasn’t as terrible as people are gonna make it out to be.

I was dying laughing when the two geezers were arguing about golf tho

Van Jones also said there is a candidate who probably shouldn't be president (Biden) and a candidate who CANNOT be president (Trump).

I've heard that quote from a couple of people as early as the opening minutes of the debate.

I don't know why Biden even agreed to this debate. His base had to witness something they had been sheltered from, in the information bubbles that have attempted to hide/gaslight them from the fact that Biden as not mentally competent anymore.

I've been trying to tell lefties this for years and they act like it's some kind of right wing conspiracy.

I'm pretty sure the DNC is trying to figure out a way to replace Biden. He had this deer in headlights look all night.
