THE "OFFICIAL" February 21, 2013 Trade Deadline Thread...

I'd be wary of trading for a Spur - especially a Spur with bad knees.

Paul "Allen just wants Blair because we passed him up in the draft and he wants to try to undue his mistake. Your right though it is low risk.

Berger said we're trying to get a first rounder for JJ. And Ben from BEdge says that Speights' and JO's availability is making the market for JJ soft.

Meh on Blair, would rather try to get someone who is needed and who has a decent/cheap contract for next year or longer. A Shumpert, Jordan Crawford type of deal.
JJ for Shumpert would make me seriously happy. I don't like Crawford.

Oh I agree, but there is nothing wrong with this deal if it happens. It's a low risk and low reward; but his contract is really cheap.

Which makes you wonder how much money he could really get this summer, with Milsap and Jefferson out there.

Wish we could snag Lamb somehow.

I don't really like this trade, but I could see how it could benefit both teams:

Matthews/Hickson for Lamb/Perkins (and pick?)

I think he will get right above MLE but nothing crazy. Teams probably realize that his real impact isn't as great as his stats suggest, and they might finally try to get fiscally responsible.

Not crazy about it either, but I'm not hanging up. I don't know why, but Lamb really intrigues me. Watching videos (taken with a giant salt lick) he looks very smooth. If he can develop and translate to the NBA I think he has a chance at being the best wing in the 2012 draft. Of course, I didn't think Barnes would be this good.

Washington Wizards shooting guard Jordan Crawford is not pleased with his reduced role, and the Wizards are looking to move him, a person familiar with Washington's thinking told USA TODAY Sports.

The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly about trade talks.

On Sunday, Crawford tweeted his December stats: 19 points, six assists, five rebounds per game. But Since Jan. 1, Crawford is averaging just 20 minutes, 8.6 points, 1.9 assists and 1.5 rebounds. Crawford did not play in Washington's 96-88 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday, the fourth consecutive game he received a "Did Not Play – Coach's Decision."

He tweeted his stats? WTF. I didn't want him before, and still don't want a guy like that on my team. I'm sure our guys care about their stats too, but they don't tweet them to the public to brag.

Just checked. They went 3-11 in December. 7-9 in Jan, and are 4-4 in Feb. That coincides with Wall returning, I know.

Brian Grant was a plan C? How about Rod Strickland? Shremp? Maybe Kenny Anderson?

EDIT: WITH THE CURRENT FREE AGENT CLASS.

even plan C's will drastically improve our team's strength.

We need to build enough to make the playoffs next year, maybe even make it past the first round. Then our assets can be used to trade for higher quality players.

Mags, I hear ya, but you are talking 15 years ago when PA overspent. Look at the last 5 years

Hickson Knows Trade From Blazers Unlikely

When told it wouldn't make sense for him to accept a deal out of the Portland Trail Blazers and that a trade scenario is not likely, J.J. Hickson smiled and nodded in approval.

“There you go then — you just said it,” Hickson said, laughing. “You just answered all your questions.”

Hickson has had a productive season for the Blazers, increasing trade speculation that has left the forward unfazed.

“I’m not going to get all hysterical about it being the trade deadline,” Hickson said. “I’ve been traded before. I’ve been waived before. This is nothing new to me.”
If he blocks a trade I hope they bench his ass and ruin his value as a FA this off season

The damage has already been done. What he has done already this season warrants a larger deal. Being benched won't really change it now.

People do so much stupid sh!t on twitter. It should be outlawed for all celebrities. With that said he is a very good fit for what we need. A cheaper Jamal Crawford. I would still take him (depending on the cost).

And the key is we would need a volume scorer like him off the bench. He would definitely get 20 minutes + a game here. Not saying I want him, but I definitely want a volume scorer off the bench.

I think our budget is around 7 million for a player like that.

If Olshey said his plan was to go younger and play Meyers the bulk of the minutes from here out, it would probably change his tune about not being traded

This guy wouldn't need near as much as that. So would give you money to spend elsewhere.

Yeah, which is a good thing. That means we have more money free to spend on other needs. I think he would be a 2-3 mil per type player. That would give us about 13 million to offer a starting center. Then a couple mins to get some more peeps.

Wonder what it would take to get both Crawford and Seraphin.

Only thing we really have to give is Hickson plus a 2nd rounder.

Seraphin and Crawford only add up to 3 MIL so we can't really add any other sweetener players (not that we have any) as then they would take on too much salary.

Would they not like Matthews?
