9 pts, 13 reb, 2 ast, 1 stl and 1 blk for Leonard. Much more active, but the best stat of all was 1 pf. He found a way to be aggressive without committing stupid fouls.

He's still very raw, but with his size athleticism and skill set, he has a huge upside. The real key will be getting him to bring energy and effort every night over an 82 game schedule. He needs to realize that even when he's not scoring he has the ability to impact the game with his rebounding and shot blocking. Plus, if you hustle and bust your ass, you'll pick up a few easy baskets here and there, and if your teammates see you working hard, hustling down the court and fighting for position, they will reward you by get you the ball. Bring the effort consistently and the rest will take care of itself.

This has disappointment written all over it....

The kid didn't even play vs legit NCAA competition!

...and we got a troll in the heazy for sheazy!

Re: THE OFFICIAL: Portland Trail Blazers vs. Atlanta Hawks (Thursday, July 19 at 3 p.

Yeah? Austin Rivers played legit competition and is sucking. So what?

Re: THE OFFICIAL: Portland Trail Blazers vs. Atlanta Hawks (Thursday, July 19 at 3 p.

I'm at work and just checked the stats. Lillard is going to be great. I'm so jacked to see this guy in the regular season. I hope they replay the game!
i think they replay it at 6 or something like that

Re: THE OFFICIAL: Portland Trail Blazers vs. Atlanta Hawks (Thursday, July 19 at 3 p.

The stats are fine, but it's his floor game that has started to make me a believer. He really looks like he knows what he's doing out there, mixing scoring and passing and trying to keep guys involved in the flow of the game.

Exactly, Nik'... and I think he'll look even better when he has more legit scoring-threats and/or better athletes around him (like LA, Batum, Matthews, Hickson, etc.).

Nolan Smith went 20/5/5 and was ACC Player of the Year and will be Lillard's back-up this season.

Dwight Jaynes ‏@dwightjaynes

Lillard has to be the front-runner for MVP of this league. Putting him in Qyntel Woods territory.

You know, there's being snarky and smart (see Nik & MM) and there's being a crotchety old fool. Guess which category Jaynes falls into.

Re: THE OFFICIAL: Portland Trail Blazers vs. Atlanta Hawks (Thursday, July 19 at 3 p.

I've always been a "show me" guy ... he's still gonna have an inevitable adjustment to the big boy league, but so far he looks legit.

1 year

We're not winning a championship this year anyway. In 1 year, the big boys will look like summer league.

Nice try, Dwight... you fat prick... but that summer league, in case you're keeping track at home (obviously not), was called "The Rocky Mountain Revue."

Try again, fat boy!

Well here's a newsflash. Summer League is better competition than almost any college game outside of the elite 8 in the NCAA tournament -- lots of drafted players and the rest rounded out with fully mature men, not 18 year old kids.

Re: THE OFFICIAL: Portland Trail Blazers vs. Atlanta Hawks (Thursday, July 19 at 3 p.

Other Vegas Summer League MVPs

2007 - Kevin Durant
2008 - ???
2009 - Blake Griffin
2010 - John Wall
2011 - ???

Re: THE OFFICIAL: Portland Trail Blazers vs. Atlanta Hawks (Thursday, July 19 at 3 p.

I wonder if Blaze01 will ever post again

There's being wrong about a guy

Then there's bashing the guy for months and calling people stupid for liking Lillard and being 100% wrong

Re: THE OFFICIAL: Portland Trail Blazers vs. Atlanta Hawks (Thursday, July 19 at 3 p.

Wasn't Qyntel MVP after his second or third NBA season, though?

I'm not sure, you'd have to ask Qyntel. I'm sure he has his MVP certificate folded in his wallet for ID.

Re: THE OFFICIAL: Portland Trail Blazers vs. Atlanta Hawks (Thursday, July 19 at 3 p.

2008 was Jerryd Bayless

Yeah, the Vegas Summer League didn't really become legitimate until 2004.

Qyntel was never summer league MVP. It's a common misconception. He made the 2003 Rocky Mountain Revue All-Revue Team, but Lonny Baxter won the MVP.

Which I guess is just another way of saying, "It's summer league, don't get too excited".

2008 = Bayless

That said, a lot of people thought Westbrook was the best player there

Really? I could have sworn he won it at least one of the years he went. Are you sure?

Re: THE OFFICIAL: Portland Trail Blazers vs. Atlanta Hawks (Thursday, July 19 at 3 p.

Like most urban myths, it's not actually true that Qyntel Woods was MVP of ANY Summer League. He had about one high scoring game, is all. [Edit: I see BNM beat me to it.]

I'm surprised nobody's rolled out the old "Bo Outlaw scored 50" line. Because that was back in Los Angeles, when the NBA Summer League ran alongside a pro-am league, where once in a while an NBA player would play on some team against a team called something like KLSX Ballers comprised of people off the street and of course get 20 rebounds and 50 points. But the legend persists.

I watched those leagues. In fact, I went to a freakin sports bar to watch those leagues. It was not "one high scoring game". Qyntel definitely dominated. I would love to see some facts or links to back up your statements.

He's doing fine, but hard work is not enough to get it done. Smarts aren't enough to get it done for him either. I said it before, I'll repeat myself: when he has the ball under the rim, he plays like he's 1'7" instead of 7'1". He need to change his mentality, power the ball up. He's playing scared in those situations and Caleb or some assistant coach is going to have to work long hours with him to change that mind set.

On the defensive end, he'll be good - he just needs to keep doing what he's doing and he'll learn what he needs to.

That all being said, I am excited about the guy, and your points are some of the reasons.

Re: THE OFFICIAL: Portland Trail Blazers vs. Atlanta Hawks (Thursday, July 19 at 3 p.

You guys realize that Dwight is trolling you all on twitter right? Besides wasn't there like a national "unfollow Jaynes on Twitter" day a couple of weeks ago. Save yourself the anguish and unplug him from your timeline ... if anything it will be easier to keep track of other actually funny and/or intelligent people without him bombing you with his asinine re-tweets of all the hate he's getting.

Ummm, well, he actually has done that in the last 3 games (plus some actual NBA players) and makes them look like they're all playing in slow motion.

Actually it was more than one game because he led the Rocky Mountain Review in scoring one year.

Marc J. Spears
After leading the Rocky Mountain Revue in scoring, Qyntel Woods may be ready for a starring role.
