I really want a season just so we can see Greg play healthy and have a better chance of resigning him.

Listen, I'm allowed to have some optimism. SOME. DON'T JUDGE ME.

We drafted a very dedicated player. This from Nolan Smith's twitter:

This has been the longest summer of my life..... workout, workout, sleep, eat, workout, eat, sleep.. wake up do it again... since June, 23rd

Just landed in SLC ad was expecting to read that the lockout was over!!!!!! C'Mon FAMS!

Negotiators taking a break. Adam Silver, Peter Holt and Dan Rube just stepped out of office tower. They'll be back, league spokesman says

Stern, Silver, Buchanan, Dan Rube and Peter Holt are representing the league in tonight's talks.

For the players, it's Hunter, Derek Fisher, Mo Evans, Ron Klempner and Kevin Murphy.

Jim Quinn is not present for players, though one of his partners is. Jeffrey Kessler also not present.

Just landed in Cincinnati and this ain't bad right?

Labor talks into Hour 11. No end in sight. Not using the "p" word but the negotiations seem to be substantive.

In another bizarre lockout moment, David Stern himself just walked past stakeout reporters and strode into office building. Alone.

Stern was holding what appeared to be some kind of brochure and waved to the writers but said nothing. I wish I had an explanation for this.

Source invlvd w/ NBA talks told TNT's David Aldridge there's "genuine desire" to get a deal tonight. Two sides are "engaged," if not closer.

One league owner not on the Labor Relations committee told one of his team's executives he's optimistic about deal getting done this weekend

KBergCBS

Expectation going in was that league would make significant move on remaining system issues. Length of talks could be read either way ...

As reported earlier today, there was "positive movement" from ownership side to get a deal done this weekend.

KBergCBS

My interpretation of same people in meeting instead of lawyers is that groundwork was built in backchannel talks earlier this week.

Ive seen smokey and the bandit 1,2 and 3. Why do they think I want to see 4?

MannixSI

Duration of meeting could actually be a bad sign. Two sides know what issues are. They know the numbers. Either a deal is there or its not.

KBergCBS

As talks hit 12 hrs, must say I didn't envision another marathon and didn't think same people would be in room. Both concern me.

briancmahoney

Length of talks likely a realization it's time to figure out if a deal's there or isn't. No need to keep coming back tomorrow at this point

WojYahooNBA

Why'd it take so long to deal w/ system issues tonight? Players pushed for return to 51% of revenue split, source says; Stern, Holt refused.

Woj

Attorney Jeffrey Kessler joined the talks via speaker phone to make 51-49 proposal to league, source says. Stern, Peter Holt shot it down.

KBergCBS

Here is dilemma with system issues. If players keep no rollbacks, increase some max players to 30 pct of cap ...

... increase qual offers to RFAs, and keep rookie scale/minimums intact, one of two things has to happen ...

.. $ paid to players above 50 pct of BRI goes back to owners via escrow (de facto rollback), or percentage has to go up. Or some of both.

Woj

This happened several hours ago, source says. The two sides left the room, huddled and talks resumed again.

Woj

WojYahooNBA: The players are clearly trying to feel out how much leverage the filing of federal suits against the NBA have gained them in the process.

After using their nuclear option, the players are in the driver's seat.

Broussard

Owners dismayed by players asking for 51% BRI 2nite. Players have wanted more than 50 since disclaiming....

Broussard

League source says no way deal getting done if players insist on more than 50% BRI.

MannixSI

As the night drags on and reports of the BRI split (again) being an issue, the optimism is quickly draining.
