I also heard they are seriously considering an amensty clause for one player on each team for both luxury tax AND salary cap relief.

I still don't understand the amnesty clause. Is the player still getting paid the full amount by the team? Plus the player gets paid a small amount by another team too? So he gets more than he was making before?

Even if he ends up making the same, I really do not see the point of getting rid of players to get under a cap line, but still having to pay the same amount you would have before. The point of the lock out is to save money for the owners. The amnesty rule should let you designate one player where only a portion of his salary counts against the cap (Say 10 million) but you get to keep the player (since you are paying him) instead of telling him to pack up his family and leave town.

Of course this would only be for current contracts.

From Broussard..........

Dwyane Wade yelled at David Stern while making pointed remarks to the commissioner at today's NBA meeting, sources said.

@briancmahoney.........

Good news from NBA labor talks: Stern says union satisfied with owners' revenue sharing plan. Bad news: Still a gap in salary cap ideas.

Sam Amico........

NBA sides to meet again in morning . Sounds like they were in middle of things and decided to break. It is Friday night after all.

Sam Amick......

Says one executive regarding D-Wade reportedly yelling at Stern: "They'll call traveling on him now for sure."

Broussard........

Stern pointed at DWade, which DWade took as sign of disrespect. That triggered his outburst on the commish, sources said.

Broussard.........

Star players - LeBron, CP3, PPierce, Baron Davis, Melo, - were ready to leave meeting but Stern asked for private talk w/Billy Hunter....

Broussard.......

Hunter then calmed stars down and got them to return to meeting. Players' resolve stunned owners, sources said.

@fox12weather............

It's official: September 2011 will do down as the 2nd warmest September in Portland ever.

KBergCBS.......

Players, irate over owners' lack of movement, wanted to end the talks. Hunter and Stern met privately and got them back in the room.

RicBucher..........

Source: David Stern pointed his finger at players while talking. Wade shouted, "You're not pointing your finger at me. I'm not your child."

Bucher..........

NBA stars will not attend tomorrow. Headed to Chris Paul's charity game. Will return if called upon. Meetings expected to be much smaller.

Yes the player is still being paid. Yes he can make more than before; although he may only receive the partially guaranteed portion of his contract losing any incentives or non-guaranteed portions. Roy's final season is only partially guaranteed although I think it still is over 50% or more than $10 million. Additional pay under the old amnesty clause was extremely small, when compared to the players amnesty overpaid contract being cut.

If the NBA did your version of the amnesty and you got to keep the player every team would use it on their highest paid player. LA would amnesty Kobe, Miami would amnesty Lebron, NY would amnesty Carmelo. The only change would be effectively raising the salary cap and luxury tax limit for every team.

The point of amnesty is to undo a mistake of an overpaid contract that is now hindering the team. Player like it since they get paid more. "Most" owners like it since it gives them flexibility for a past mistake. Some owners don't like it since they don't have any bad contracts and think it rewards the teams who screwed up. But overall it sounds as though there's enough support to have it in the deal. The lockout will help the lower payroll teams field more competitive teams, so having a one time roster move that gives a slight advantage to higher spending teams is an acceptable compromise to those thrifty owners.

Not to be a dick, or maybe I do enjoy being one, but maybe you can combine your 20 one line twitter posts into a single message?

Ya know, like hit the edit button or something.

In regards to all your "retweets" sounds like a promising day and a good sign they are meeting tomorrow.

Why couldn't each side have started doing what they did today back on July 15th? Oh well, if they're too stupid to figure out how to split up 4-5 billion I'm fine going without basketball at least until football ends. I actually really enjoyed the 50 game season!

Sorry I did it wrong and I wasted your time.

I appreciate it, John.

Second nicest thing you share with us behind your wife.

@alanhahn..........

Baron Davis heads out, says "We're working, we're working." Suggests that things are going well. "Both sides are willing and able."

If you don't like me posting these tweets...... fuck yourself!

@HowardBeckNYT..........

Asked about momentum toward deal, Davis said, "Absolutely." Adds, "Everybody’s being a lot more receptive today to moving forward."

KBergCBS.......

meetings continuing. Baron Davis leaves early. When asked if there was movement, he paused and said, "That's not for me to say."

These re-tweets are the only interesting posts in the last three months. Keep them up!

WojYahooNBA...........

From the NBA and union labor meeting today, there's been "progress" says source in the room. No details offered. Groups still meeting.

KBergCBS..........

On serious note, #lockout parties have broken for lunch. Source briefed on talks says owners expected to "bring something to the table."

5 hours of meetings and are coming back after lunch. Who knows if any of this is good or bad, but I love that they are at least talking!

@HCP'sWife.........HCP's daughter Olivia has scored 2 goals as the Alameda Rainbow Fairies have taken a 2-0 lead at halftime. No comment from Billy Hunter......
