Not if we take care of business between now and then and beat DEN on Tuesday. We control our own fate.

Exactly. It's all on us. I'm bummed Denver won but on Sunday, they get an emerging Pelicans team and we get the Lakers. Then we play each other. First, we gotta beat Minnesota. Not a given.

It will be hard for Denver to hold off our easy finishing schedule. We just need to play well against shit teams......something we have struggled with a bit

We haven't really turned the corner I feel like. Everytime we think "ok we might be clicking now" we come out and perform like we did against the Bucks. That was the final straw for me imo. Denver to me just wants it more and are really clicking. Now they seem like they turned the corner.

Which isn't bad or anything I think we'll be really good next year when Nurk is fully integrated in the team. We're just not ready this season for whatever reason. I don't mind the lottery one more time until the foreseeable future

When was the last time we lost to a shit team? We've won 9 of our last 12. We lost to WAS by 1. we lost to MIL, who is currently the hottest team in the league and we lost to NOP, who has won 5 of 7 and beat HOU and MEM by double digits after beating us.

You shouldn't lose to the Bucks at home

If it was on the road then I can understand

You do realize MIL is the hottest team in the league right now, don't you? We've won 9 of 12. How is that not turning a corner? I guess beating SAS, ATL and MIA on the road doesn't count, but DEN beating IND o n the road and beating LAC, without Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, at home means they've turned a corner.

When did I say we lost to a shit team? When did I say recently?

You need to stop being so quick to assume.

Yeah, tell that to the Clippers, who lost to the Bucks, at home, at full strength. What part f hottest team in the NBA do you not understand. They didn't just beat us. They are beating other very good teams, too. They have won 10 of 12 and beaten TOR and LAC twice during that span.

I asked a question. Either answer it or don't. No need to get your panties all in a wad. You made the statement that we tend to lose to shit teams and I asked for a recent example. Any losses to shit teams in December, or really, any before the Nurkic trade, seem pretty irrelevant to me given the context of this thread.

No, I didn't make that statement. You have made it on my behalf twice now though.

You do have a point there

Tuesday is going to say a lot about who will take the 8th. At the moment its a game of what team will lose to teams they shouldn't more then what team will win vs teams they shouldn't.

We've struggled with this since, at least the late 80s :(

This isn't unique to the Trail Blazers. Every team, every year loses games to teams they should beat. The 72-win 1995-96 Bulls lost to the 21-win Raptors and the 35-win Nuggets. Last year's 73-9 GSW Warriors lost to the 17-win Lakers, the 29-win Timberwolves (at home), the 33-win Nuggets and the 33-win Bucks. Hell, we beat the greatest regular season team in NBA history by 32 points.

The problem is fans tend to remember the games their team should have won, but didn't. It's classic if-only syndrome.

Absolutely, but... it makes me weary every time we go into an "easy stretch" and board members are licking their chops. That is happening right now.....

Why do you keep assuming "struggle to beat" means lose to?

We struggled to beat both Philly and the Suns, but we beat them. It was an innocent comment you ran with to prove some point

I totally agree with you. How many times have we turned the corner this season, just to find a dead end.... To me though, it sure is more fun and exciting to have people looking positively (kingspeed style) at the team, then all gloom and doom. I've read many other team forums, and some are downright depressing. I'm not even a fan of their teams, but I feel sorry for them. Sure, if we do happen to make the playoffs, we may get slaughtered. Still, there's that chance we could do great things....
