Look at how much it helped Brook and the Gasols this year. Need to keep up with the times. I think he'll benefit from shooting 2 threes a game or so.
Overall it didn't help Brook imo. Of course he made more of them (because he shot a crap-ton) but it didn't help his scoring more then other years and it hurt his defense and rebounding quite a bit.

Nurkic brought something we sorely needed, and it wasn't shooting 3's. We already had/have that. Maybe he can do both but I personally would love him to specialize in what he already kicks ass at and just improve those. If he can hit the 15 footer then that is enough for me.

Marc gasol is the prototype for nurk. Gasol shoots threes. Guess the next sentence.

I'm OK with Nurk working on his 3pt shooting. He's such a good passer in the high post that you really want teams to not play off him and sag their bigs in the lane when he's out there. Make 'em pay only a few times with the 3pt shot and that will open the lane for everyone else.

That includes the 20 games Nurk played.

Sure, but call me old-school but better neither imo.

We'll never go back to that NBA. It's dead sadly.

I remember when Uncle Cliffy and Rasheed added it to their games and started to drift further out (Cliffy more so when he was on the Suns). I missed their banging in the block but it probably extended their career to move out of the paint a bit.

6th as I recall.

Bingo

Believe it or not, defense is where the Blazers will miss his presence most. The Blazers posted a defensive rating in March of 104.2, which would place them sixth overall in the league if they’d hold that pace throughout a season. How much of a turnaround is that? Portland entered the month of March with one of the five worst defensive ratings in the NBA.

Sabas 2.0 -- he only needs to hit one or two a game to force the defense out to guard him.

Here is the thing on it. I agree one or two is great. MOST players don't stop there once they start shooting them though. 4-5 shots from 3 a game means the offense would be better off tailored to keep him in the paint for 2 of those shots imo. Lopez put up 5.2 attempts a game this year! Crazy.

He needs to start hitting his free throws and some jumpers and then he can extend his range. Lopez and Gasol were always money from the line with a decent jumper. Nurkic has a nice touch, but cannot hit them yet. In fact both Gasol and Lopez brothers are money, does Nurkic have a brother hitting jumpers? Maybe there is hope lol

Is Marc Gasol as good as he was 2-3 years ago? I don't think the added 3-pt sharpshooter element has improved his game overall.

He just had has best season statistically, so yes?

It is easy to get hung up on points (because that is flashy and it does matter, of course) but he actually had his worst season ever in rebounding. Luckily he didn't seem to drop-off on D as much as someone like Brook Lopez did.

yeah it is easy to get hung up on points....when talking about shooting.

And what does a players three point shooting have to do with their defense?

The only affect it can have is offensive rebounding, since he's further away from the basket, but if you got a big that can shoot near 40%, that's a weapon you have to use, because it pulls the opposing teams center away from the basket as well.

"I work well with confidence, and I don't feel like it's been reciprocated."

Reciprocated? Meyers, for that to make sense you'd have to give me confidence in my job, but I don't feel like you have. So there's nothing to reciprocate.

If he's not talking about fans but rather the team, then good God is he confused. The Blazers are the ones who should feel like they haven't been reciprocated. They shelled out a shit load of money and you earned maybe a tenth of it. Be professional, take accountability or get the fuck out of town. I want to root for him but man he has just looked horrible and that's nobody's fault but his. And I don't care how many minutes you're getting, if you get a chance to play you need to be ready. Lately it's been like watching a co-ed rec league where teams always need to have at least one girl on the floor.

You need confidence, go listen to some Tony Robbins tapes before the game or get your dick sucked. It's not the responsibility of anyone else to spoon you and tell you how great you are.

/end rant (for now)

Perhaps I shouldn't have quoted you but I was talking above about over-all game personally. Someone mentioned Brook Lopez did great this year. I disagree for sure.

What's the most annoying about Meyers is that he doesn't seem angry he wasted another season. It's like it's a 40 years old Kaman speaking not a guy that should be eager to prove himself.
