Just food for thought. Its 14 games into the season and i was thinking about the RJ trade and what benefits the nets have gained/lost from it. We all know the benefits of the Kidd trade where already the nets have done well this season, and so far most will agree is paying dividends.
Now the RJ trade brought us Yi and Simmons. Even though both start we have a sf and a pf that are producing sorta of and i just wonder........what if the nets didn't do the trade where would they be now. Had we not done the trade the starting lineup would be Harris and carter in the back court, with RJ Brook and say Ryan Anderson in the front line.
You would lose Yi's 10 pts average and inconsistent play, and you would lose Simmons 5 pts a game and what he brings to the table. You would gain RJ who is averaging like 18/5 a game. I was watching RJ play tonight on nba tvand his game is pretty much the same as it was in NJ. I believe that RA would average at least 10 pts a game or more if he were starting. So i would have to say this year the nets would be about 13 pts more effective on offense. Defense would be a bit better with RJ replacing Simmons, and Ryan replacing Yi.
So what do you think, are the nets better with this trade so early in the season? Or are we just going to say potential, potential, potential?? Had the nets not made the trade would the nets be a much surer shot to make the playoffs? RJ was in the prime of his career and never wanted to leave Jersey.
Your thoughts please.......
oh yeah, go nets!!!
