Not sure if Melo is with his wife or not but I think that plays as big a part as anything. Happy wife happy life. Players just don't appreciate Oregon till they've lived here a while well besides the taxes and tree huggers

They're getting a divorce.

The only thing that really plays into it is that he has a kid.... but it's not like Houston is super close to NY either.

If he's open to Houston he should be open to some other teams like Portland for example. Houston isn't any more of a contender with him on it than Portland would be, so I don't see why he'd go there but not here, unless he just wanted to play with his friendzzzz

For the record, Woj didn't say the players reached out to Melo, just that they think having him would vault us into contention with everyone but the Warriors.

Nah he definitely said "Portlands players have been reaching out to Melo". The whole clip is below, they start talking about Portland at the 13:30 mark.

Random Fact: Many of the best NBA players from around the league use to get together and practice in Houston. IDK, if this is a factor.

People just assume that the Warriors are going to own the league, but injuries can derail that dynasty pretty fast. It's not like Curry and Durant are the most durable players in the league. We can't just assume that it's a forgone conclusion, and I think a core of Dame/CJ/Melo/Nurk would be pretty damn formidable.

I'm just not sold on CP3/Harden/Melo at all. I just don't see it.

Yeah we know all to well "Roy, Lma and Oden" still makes me sick to my stomach.

You obviously haven't been reading the Rockette forums.
Those fans believe they are an auto-lock for a ring if Melo joins CP3 + Har_en.
:biglaugh:

If this was five years ago, I wouldn't disagree that they'd have a good shot, but Paul wasn't able to do anything with the Clippers. Melo didn't do anything with the Knicks. I'm not sure why they think putting those three together will be so different.

I agree. I've also said before that the Warriors' 16-1 playoff record this year looks way more dominant than it likely would have had the opposition been at full strength. The Blazers loss of Nurkic probably cost them winning two games against the Warriors. The same is true with the Spurs' loss of Leonard. I'm not saying that the Warriors would have lost either series, but I suspect both of them would have been 4-2 battles rather than the cake walks they appear to have been by the sweeps in the record book.

Not necessarily. If you listen to Woj he said the reason Melo opened up to Houston was because Chris Paul was traded there. The team USA buddies are tight and Paul has a big hand in recruiting Melo. His word has more impact than say CJ or Dame's.

Maybe if Dame was on the Olympic team and became buddies with PG/Melo etc. his word would have more pull. A stupid barometer for sure, but that seems like what you need to be doing in the era of the superfriends league.

Listen you Portland hipster your city is so trash and old that you don't know nothing.
I will list all the accomplishments of Har_en, CP3, and Melo who are undoubtedly future first ballot HoFers.
You don't have three future HoFers and lose.
Rockettes 2018 Champions. Book it.

Rocket fans on cf.

but yes I agree with you, unless there is an injury to KD or he reverts to the form he took when he blew the 3-1 lead. CP3+Har_en+Melo+Capela have as good of a shot at beating the Warriors as Portland does with Lillard+CJ+Nurk+Melo

My membership to clutchfans just got approved................ this is going to be fun.
And no, I did not put a picture of myself as my avatar.

The only thing I like about Houston is you can purchase McMansions for pennies on the dollar (compared to what you'd get in Oregon).

Hornacek:
"Defense first. Not going to outscore opponents."
"Mentality to get a stop. Develop that mentality "That guy has the ball and not gonna score on me"."
"A good offense starts with a better defense."
Could he throw any MORE shade at Melo? Jeez, burn some bridges why dontcha.

Completely agree. I lived in Texas and still have lots of family there and there's not a price high enough you could pay my family or I to move to Houston. It's the complete opposite of what we apprecaite here in the PNW. Just a huge hot pile of concrete and illiteracy.

My first time there was a few years back. Got in about 8pm on a March evening. Just between an ice storm and some flooding. As my uber takes me into the city, the first thing I see in the skyline is that massive blue neon cross. We ended up on a route that took us past the Joel Osteen church (which is bigger than most stadiums). Had to request that my uber driver stop and take a quick pic of me in front.

My only Houston experience was trying to get through on my Florida to Portland road trip last summer. Where I-10 goes through the city is just horribly fucked traffic wise. It was worse than when I had to drive through L.A. a couple of days later. I always laugh when people complain about the Portland traffic. Try getting around in that shit hole......

So what I gather is that Melo wants to go to Houston or Cleveland but New York thinks we have the better assets to give for Melo where as Cleveland and Houston are offering assets that would basically keep Melo in New York unless he gives Portland a chance. So I mean, either come here or stay in New York, an organization that has shit on you.
