Come on guys. Rudy is a douchebag.

Furthermore, he was a flopper. Watch the Ariza video again. It does not look like he intentionally wanted to hurt Rudy.

Yeah that doesn't look intentional. I'd take Ariza. He's a better (albeit older) version of Harkless.

Maybe for one season. Maybe. Ariza is 32. Not exactly on the up side of his productivity.

Stat-wise last year they are very similar in scoring, 3pt %, rebounding and defensive rating. Just Harkless is on the way up and Ariza on the way down.

Ariza only has 1 year left on his deal. Gotta shed salary

I think this trade is a good idea, Involve the Brooklyn Nets. Add in a draft pick or two that Portland receives for taking on Anderson's contract.

I don't believe HOU can trade Tariq Black until December 15th.

I doubt if NJN would trade Caris Lavert. He's one of the few decent young prospects they have. He was the 20th pick in the 2016 draft and had a decent rookie season.

[ahem] If he's better, it's by a negligible amount. I'll take the younger version who shoots 10% better, even if he's "worse".

$7M coming off the books doesn't do anything for us.

The ONLY way getting stuck with Ryan Anderson and his contract comes close to making sense is if we also move at least of one of Crabbe or Turner. Even then, "getting stuck with Ryan Anderson" is exactly what we'd be. His contract, at his age, with his injury history is exactly why this trade didn't happen a month ago. Crabbe and Turner may be just as overpaid, but they are younger and healthier - and would be easier to move in the future to possibly get something of actual value in return.

and more importantly if we wanted to shed salary why not trade him for an actual asset like a pick instead? If Plumlee can get us Nurk and a 1st surely harkless can get us a 1st.

Yeah, you could see Harkless + Turner for Anderson and Ariza making some sense. Dump some contracts, but also possibly get a better fit for the short term rotation. Although if we are taking Anderson and trying to balance, then I might rather do Biebs or Vonleh + Turner.

That's why the only way this works is for us to get Gordon and send out Turner+Harkless + whatever. No way in hell Neil facilitates a trade with our young pieces going to NYK and Ryno coming to Portland.

I wouldn't even take on Anderson at that price - it would have to be Crabbe OR Turner PLUS Meyers in order to take Anderson back. Even then, I'd rather just stand pat and use those guys in a different trade later in the season. Actually, yeah, typing that out I wouldn't trade Crabbe/Meyers for Anderson. There isn't a reasonable scenario in which I'd take on Anderson's contract, and not many unreasonable scenarios in which I'd trade for him.

Pure salary dump? I don't like this one. Nicholson doesn't appear to do anything well. Not sure how what he brings except a lower salary.

He's kind of built like Vonleh/Biggie, but without the outside shot.

Goes to show you how terrible his deal is and how low his trade value is.

Are you kidding me?! This is effing amazing... we just dumped one of the worst contracts in the league without giving up a pick! This was a great trade!

Maybe, but we also could have just let Crabbe go originally and saved much more. So Blazers are admitting that signing Crabbe was a mistake and are willing to pay many millions for nothing as a result.
