I'd still take Melo on this roster. Tight game down the stretch, would get beneficial calls from refs. Another offensive weapon who can create his own shots.

Interesting point. Probably the best argument for considering him. The thing that baffles me is why would Houston give up on him so quickly? They have little other depth. If he does not fit in Houston with Cp3, then where does he fit?

He doesn't fit anywhere, he's straight garbage now...

When was the last time Vince dropped 28 on 9-12 shooting and 6-9 from three?
So you're going to use one game to say that Melo is still a star, over all of the legitimate, large-sample statistical evidence against it?

heh, I'd be Melo would be a star in ice cube's league.

Actually, I gave three games in an earlier post. Three games out of his last.... what..... 10 games?

I'll take 3 really good games out of 10 from a bench player (two of those games they haven't played him).

So really it's three really good games out of 8.

If Melo came to the Blazers he would start at PF and Aminu at SF. Pushing Jake pretty much out of the rotation.

Dame
CJ
Aminu
Melo
Nurk

I hate Melo, but he would be a serious upgrade at either the 3 or 4.

Aminu > Melo and it's not close.
Harkless healthy > Melo and it's closer, but still not as close as you'd think.

A really good question. He didn't seem to get along with his team-mates in OKC - but you might be able to give him a mulligan on that because Westbrick can't be the easiest guy to play with. The Houston situation should be a glaring red light. Weren't he and Paul supposed to be tight? Hard to believe they would dump him if Paul and Harden objected.

It’s actually four good games. He has another game of 17 points.

Lol we’re not even giving up anything except the roster spot of a guy who at most would still be a backup. And I say that as Baldwin fan. And the top three voices in the locker room are all pro Melo, so I don’t view him as a chemistry risk either.

Like holy shit the guy would be a bench player on a minimum contract. I don’t care what the numbers say, he’s a better player than Jake Layman, Meyers Leonard, and Biggie Swanigan. When teams start game planning for those guys then we can talk.

There's absolutely no chance he starts. If he was brought in, its strictly as a backup 4. So you weigh the option of him over Leonard there.

Good effort isn't contagious as much as bad effort. And it'd be a mistake to think the old, washed up player who has never been a good defender even though he's played for 4 different teams is all of a sudden going to improve defensively. He's declined as an athlete and he gives no effort. He's not going to change.
Stopper Melo on the Olympic Team (2x) calls bullshit.

Now, he may not ever do that again (or be physically capable), but he has been a good defender and good teammate.

Jake isn't the greatest but he's sporting a 65TS% and doesn't need touches in a starting lineup with 2 ball heavy guards and another shot happy center. I don't think Melo would be good for that....

Tell me another viable star player, even a washed up one, that we can get?

Dame is 28. If we can add another star player without giving up anyone, I say do it.
Melo is only a 'star' in name only. He's fallen off a cliff.

In the last 18 months, 4 different teams have sent him packing. At this point, hes not worth the effort
