The only hold up is Neil is waiting for a verbal assurance from LeBron he will re-sign in Portland and not just be a 1-year rental.

I still would like to know where he's hearing this from?
Dude, seriously the dumbest thing a person who has sources can do is reveal their sources. A: it would kill any chance of hearing anything from that person again. B: The source likely would lose his job for divulging info to the general public.

In other words quit asking that question.

Well, that's why he's the coach and not the GM. Morey shouldn't/wouldn't let him override a trade.

Well, I don't think D'Antoni can override/overrule a trade, but I'm sure his view on whether Anthony will fit into the scheme/team will carry weight. Anthony is not good enough that issues of fit are completely secondary (like Chris Paul is). Honestly, Anthony only has a star name now--he's basically a complementary scorer at this point in his career and how he fits on offense and defense should matter a lot. I'm not convinced that he's a materially better player, now, than Ryan Anderson and Anderson could definitely be argued as a superior fit in that system.

No, it's ok to ask.

Jim. He heard it from Jim.
There. Happy?

Oh I completely agree that Anthony is more name than player now, but the idea that D'Antoni is the only actor holding up the deal seems very strange to me . . . like this is the kind of thing that should have been ironed out between Morey and D'Antoni before they even pursued Anthony (unless this is all being driven by agents/players, and the GMs are getting dragged into it).

Yeah, that's fair point. It would be strange for a D'Antoni/Morey schism on such a clear part of their off-season plan to arise only now.

Makes me happy, but why would NYK want Allen Crabbe when they just sighed Tim Haradway Jr. and why would the rebuilding Nets want 29-year old Ryan Anderson with 3 years left on his contract?

BNM
Knicks could play Crabbe at 3 in place of 'Melo. As for the Nets, It's not like there's any motivation for them to tank since they owe the Celtics their pick next year too. So they turn Lin (whom they'll under-utilize, with Russell now running point) into Anderson whom they'll over-utilize (who else besides Russell do they have that can score), turning him into a viable trade asset after he puts up 20ppg.

Don't pretend 2B wired anymore. Still, I am told Melo-Rockets trade holdup is D'Antoni. Does not want him. Melo knows! It'll happen anyway!
My guess is Vecey is assuming D'Antoni does not really want Melo and is pretending to "have been told". Pretty much what he has done forever.

The "Melo knows! It'll happen anyway!" just sounds like standard Vecsey reporting, which was always speculation/his own opinions phrased as "what I'm hearing."
