Maybe we are thinking about this all wrong.... In fact I suspect we are.

We Know Melo is going to Houston. Houston Lacks the Assets the Knicks want in return.
We know there is a willing 3rd team (maybe us) who probably has the assets NY wants in return (Harkless etc...)
The hang up is an unwillingness to take on a contract by someone, we have all assumed it's NY not wanting Meyers...

What if it's Portland that doesn't want Anderson and they are trying to find a 4th team to take him and get the Blazers the assets they want.

It's not like Neil has a track record of getting burned in trades.

From the last few reports, this seems to be the case.

We also have a history of scratching Clevelands back... So maybe that's why Cleveland is coming up as well.

I feel like if there was a team out there that wanted Anderson and were willing to give up assets to get him, they would've been involved from the beginning.

The problem is that team may not have any assets the Knicks covet.

But, they might have something we want/need.

Supposedly, the Knicks want Harkless and we don't want Anderson. Perhaps there is a team out there that needs 3-point shooting, but doesn't have a player comparable to Harkless (in age, position and value) to give up.

If Lee/O'Quinn were coming in and Harkless/Leonard were going out, how would you feel?

Checked back with the East coast. Morey doing almost whatever it takes to make cap space for 'Melo. Anderson fits with what Portland would give up but Blazers don't seem to want him. Olshey prefers his old buddy Gordon if a deal is made but there are players from the Blazers other teams don't want and the Knicks want Harkless.

Lee coming back only makes sense if Crabbe is outgoing. Lee is essentially an older, slightly less overpaid version of Crabbe. And since the Knicks just signed Hardaway Jr. they don't need/want Crabbe.

Back to square 1...

It would be worth trading for Gordon just for the awkwardness with Neil about how he traded him last time when he said he wouldn't.

Do you know something? I like Harkless a lot, but that would really help with the bench.

Neil would have a perfectly glib take on it. Don't know what Gordon would have to say. Maybe not appear in the same news conference? ;)

I wonder if Neil has reached out to Eric Gordon to try to mend the fences in case he ends up in Portland.

Not sure why Neil wants Gordon. Sure, his contract is much better than Anderson's, but do we really need to corner the market on 6'3" combo guards that don't play defense?

How? How can they get close to Melo's # without giving Capela/Anderson/Ariza?
