From Woj:

No deal was imminent Wednesday, but the Knicks and Rockets are confident that they have a willing third-team trade partner, the sources said.

The fourth team was needed to move a particular player contract that neither the Knicks nor Rockets could or would accept in the deal, league sources said.

Sounds a lot like Portland and Meyers (or maybe Turner)
That definitely smells like Meyers (the scent is a cross between man-tears, hair gel, fear, tanning booth, and Jeep sweat (those leather seats do no favors in the hot sun)).

I swear to God I don't want this bullshit to happen. I'd rather go with the squad we have than lose Hark and start Anderson.

Losing Hark is meh to me, as long as Portland gets return value I wouldn't mind.
However I don't want Anderson anywhere near the Blazers.
I wouldn't even want the guy for the 3 on 3 tourney. Mainly because he can't guard a middle schooler.

Makes sense actually if it's Meyers. Knicks don't need him. They have Porzingis and Hernangomez. They don't have the space or need to develop Meyers. Rockets can't take him financially. Hence...fourth team. Hello Brooklyn.

I personally believe the sky is the limit for Hark. Still has a huge upside IMO. And playing with Nurk for a whole season is gonna be a joy to watch.

I'm 100% (I'm not done with obscure Sonic Youth references yet) with you on this one.

I think you're right. It seems like we've seen Hark's ceiling. He's not a bad player by any means, but we really should try to find a better starter. He's fine off the bench, or starting in a pinch, IMO.

When he's motivated and locked in I think Hark is one of the best 3 and d players in the league. And he's on a great contract.
However far too often last year I watched him lose focus and let his man get an easy bucket.
With the talent level and ability he's shown, his man should never get an easy bucket.
Only reason it happened is because he wasn't directly involved in the defensive play and lost his man.

He actually got pulled last year late in the season in a game or two because he was having these mental lapses.
I'm high on Hark but he's not untouchable like Lillard & CJ are.

Neil probably sees this as his best chance to unload a bad contract but the parameters of this deal will probably be startling. When was the last four team deal.... Dwight Howard?

Lets be real here.
Losing Harkless and gaining Anderson is not fucking equal value for Harkless.
I will march on the rose garden if this is all Portland gets in return.

Why? You keep saying this but have yet to elaborate. He just turned 24 and IMO has some of the highest upside on the team.

FWIW

Mo scored 20+ points in 3 games. He's a starter.

He scored 10+ in half the games. The other half, under 10 (he missed 5 games, but those count as 0 points).

He's 24, or 33 years younger than me. To the day.

Based on what? He's not a good shooter and his FT % suggests he won't get much better. His defense is inconsistent. That part he could improve on, sure. But I just don't see this high upside you speak of. Yeah he's technically young, but he's going on his sixth season. He's not a prospect anymore.

I can't see it being that the trade is contingent on Harkless ONLY. I am sure they are looking at other combinations of players. Although Harkless def. has the best contract.

Lets play jeopardy.
This current NBA player has played 9 years in the league, yet he's never played in 82 games.

who is Ryan Anderson

To me, it's not the number of games he's played that bothers me, but his defense that he doesn't play.

Not gonna score that much when you have a backcourt averaging 60 PPG.

Is it at the same position as our two rookies? I think Swanigan is better under the basket for rebounding purposes. I think he backs up Nurk. Collins is a year away. Maybe we trade one of them plus Noah for a scoring wing? If we really have 7 bigs who deserve minutes.......

I agree that Swanigan may be our best backup C, although I see him more as a PF in the long term. He does have a 9'0" standing reach, but isn't a good shot blocker (yet). Otherwise, in the post I think you could run a lot of the same sets as you do for Nurk. Better at pick and pop, but should do great on the PnR and has shown to be a good passer as well. Certainly he has enough bulk to handle most backup centers.

His defense is inconsistent.

Really? How many games last year did he save the team's bacon in the last few minutes by making great defensive plays. And, if his defense is bad, then we are really screwed because I think it is hard to argue that he isn't at least the second best defender on the team.

Last season Mo averaged the most MPG in his career. He had career bests in:

PPG
RPG
FG%
EFG%
FGA
FGM

With the addition of Nurk he was shooting 3s at a 44% clip. Small sample size but still. And he is the BEST on the team at cutting to the basket and finishing. We lose him, we lost that.

I didn't say he was bad, I said he was inconsistent. Numbers back that opinion up. And Aminu and Turner would both be ahead of him defensively. And if we can include everyone, so would Nurkic.

Last season: Nurk, Vonleh, Turner, Hark, Aminu
This season? Nurk, Collins, Vonleh, Turner, Hark, Swanigan, Aminu
