Should the Blazers puruse Carmelo Anthony?

I kinda like this one, although I'm higher on Crabbe than most people. If it was Turner instead of Crabbe, maybe.

Swap them. We need one of them off the books. I prefer to keep the ball handler if we are bringing in non ball handlers though.

I don't think the Suns do this.

Why not? I said we should include a pick or two. Maybe they go to them instead of the Knicks. Does that sweeten it enough in your opinion?

Depends how they feel about Anderson. Also they might want to avoid having a disgruntled Wade on their hands. But yes, in general, the Bulls have the least reason to do this.

One of the cheapest ownership groups in the NBA is not adding 60+ million in additional salary for Anderson and Lee. Wade has one year left on his contract, worst case scenario he pouts and leaves next year.

Portland doesn't want Anderson....they prefer Gordon.
Maybe they should take them both? Anderson and Gordon and Ariza to Portland; Harkless and Turner to NY; Anthony and Crabbe to Houston. Portland saves about $7 million immediately and another $7 million next year when Ariza contract expires. We get older but they're only 28 and 29.

So with Collins being an obvious project, I still think we need a much better improvement in backup C.
Cut Patty C to make a little more room

What would hold this back? Could we toss in a pick or two to the knicks?

What I find funny (well, it's kinda sad) is that in most of these proposed trades, whoever gets stuck with Butters is an automatic -5 to -15 wins....

The best part of this trade:

and the real reason I proposed it, is that it would block @BigGameDamian from every playing the "Portland only wants to develop young players" card ever again!

BNM
Is that such a bad trade? Add Quarterman going to Portland and it will work capwise. Portland saves about 14 million right away (is that possible?) and another 9 million after one year . Couldn't Lin and Gordon be more valuable to the team than Turner and Crabbe? That leaves a deficit in the SF area because Harkless is younger but right now Ariza is a better all around player.

I like this one but I'm sure NY would want draft pick as well.

Of all the guys signed last year, Harkless is the only one I don't want to see moved.

And yet, we're likely moving him.

Little bit of PT and he's grown so much. It's hard to remember he's still only 24!!

I'll hold off my angst until it/when a deal goes down and I see the final return, but I generally haven't been a fan of the scenarios I've seen.

You're exactly right. I'm going to hold off being pissed off until it actually happens. But if we end up with RA instead of Hark I'm going to be extremely upset.

Every reddit post begins with the assumption we are taking Anderson. We are like the fourth guy you get in a beer run who puts in the same amounts of money but who always gets stiffed when the empty cans are counted up.

Well, chances are, with how bad the Leonard/Turner/Crabbe contracts are, you won't like the trades that send those guys packing, if they do occur at all. Harkless at least has the possibility of bringing in some good return.

The parameters of the deal seem to be mostly unchanged for days now.

Melo for Ryan Anderson and a third team to make the CBA dollars match. The Knicks want someone else to take Anderson. The Knicks can take back 150% of Melo's salary. They used up most of their actual cap space on Hardaway Jr.

I don't really see much in it for us, other than Anderson, picks, cash, and maybe a salary dump.

A contract that neither team "could or would" take on is one that's too low to satisfy the CBA, not one too big. That's my take on it.

NO is possibly shaking down the Rockets to get as sweet a deal as possible. The Rockets are desperate for Melo, they have to satisfy the Knicks (and us).

I think a trade like this would really solidify our playoff position.

Dame/Lin/Bazz
CJ/Gordon/Connaughton
Harkless/Turner/Layman
Anderson/O'Quinn/Swanigan
Nurk/Davis/Collins

Oh goodie, I finally get to ask this question for one of these;

Why do the Knicks do that?

There's no point in us being involved, from the other two teams' POV, if we're not taking Anderson.

As long as it's worth our while but it's still a big contract. No wonder it's taking so long. Probably a bunch of scenarios in play.

The risk is another team takes our place, giving the Knicks someone they like even more than Mo.

Ok. I could get behind something like that. But it's true, I don't see the Knicks doing that. I mean... it's Butters...

Hearing New Orleans is interested in being the 4th team in the trade
