I can't fault the Pacers much for not finding anyone out side our big 3 particularly appealing. Hark is probably on the best contract. But 3 first round picks?

Sabonis is looking like a scrub at best. Oladiop is another average player making 20+ million. I'd have taken the 3 draft picks + Harkless over that.

This may turn out for the best though, if George goes to LA after one year anyway.

Good stuff (as usual) BNM.

One question I have is whether starting Crabbe at SG, rather than SF, and bringing CJ off the bench at both guard positions, might be in the best interests of the the Blazers. I don't really like to see Crabbe taking up any minutes at SF. I'd rather go with Harkless and Turner.

Nope, those stats are for Crabbe as a starting SG. His complete inability to create shots for himself or others, makes him a horrible starter. That, plus his abysmal defense. Allen Crabbe will never be a starter on a good team. Sure, he could start for BRK or ORL, but if your goal is to make the playoffs, Crabbe as a starter is not the answer.

I get that you don't like Crabbe. How about crab cakes? ;)

There is a legend that if you say the name "Allen Crabbe" three times in a mirror, BNM will appear to tell you how shitty Crabbe is.

Or you could just watch him play and see for yourself.

I have always given him credit for his elite ability to knock down open 3-pointers. It's his one true skill, and one he does exceptionally well.

My problem is he does not do one other thing even close to average. Words like "sucks at everything else" are inflammatory, but when I challenge the Crabbe fanboys to name ONE other thing he's even average at, I hear crickets. Last year, they tossed out things like he's an above average rebounder for his size/position (wrong, Shabazz Napier is a better rebounder), he's a good passer (wrong, Meyers Leonard has a much higher AST%), he's good at getting steals (tied for 12th on the team in STL%), etc.

So, when I hear talk of starting Crabbe, yeah I shoot it down, because it would be a fucking disaster. I actually want this team to win as many games as possible. Making our starting line up smaller and even worse defensively is NOT the answer.

BNM

Not that I'm a fan of his... but why do you think teams are giving up on him? He left NO because he got a big contract offer. I don't think they gave up on him.

You may be right. But, four teams in nine years just doesn't seem to point to high value. He has never shot less than 36% so he pretty much is what he always was.

It would be kinda fun to go around baiting you though.

Operation: Give BNM writers cramp

Please stop perpetuating this myth. It simply is not true.
I believe he plays better with the starters than the bench players....but no matter what you call myth...his stats are overwhelmingly collected from bench minutes....I think most players play better with starting level players....please stop calling opinions myths...you're welcome to yours and welcome to feel it's your truthful opinion....as are we all

Crabbe started at SF when Batum was injured and played some of his best ball.....but that's a myth according to BNM right?

Yeah, but he gave the stats when Crabbe starts. While they are a small sample size, it certainly doesn't provide any positive evidence for starting him.

I think most players play better with starting level players....

All players are better off working off the talents of better players, yes. However, it's complicated by the fact that they go up against better players too--the opposing teams' starters. So it's not clear that a player like Crabbe, who struggles even against lesser players, would derive a benefit from starting even if you take into account better teammates around him.

Trade Damian or CJ for a guy who is more complimentary (sort of like Golden State did with Curry and Ellis)
I've decided people who compare Lillard & CJ to Ellis & Curry get their basketball card revoked for 6 months.
It's just lazy.

But... but... @Sinobas NO is just sitting on his hands, not doing anything! Why couldn't he put together a package for pg13? He deserves to be fired! He's on vacation! omg NO why no trade for pg13!

Did I miss any? Maybe Sly can fill in the ones I missed if I did?

Why is it different?
Because of how different of players CJ and Ellis are, primarily. Everyone discusses the defensive end, but offensively, Steph and Ellis not a good pair, CJ and Dame are. Ellis' inability to shoot made him a poor fit alongside Steph.

I'm not going to repeat myself again on why CJ & Ellis are different players completely.
You're welcome to go back and look at my post history though.

I would challenge you to show me a time where a combo like Dame/CJ has worked as a formula for a championship.

Two score-first, sub-6'6, poor defense guards that like to have the ball in their hands.

Show me where that has been a recipe for success.

Earl Monroe and Walt Frazier maybe?

From a basketball perspective, and if you take out all personal feelings, it is very logical to believe one of them should be traded. Not only is having two smallish guards who aren't great defenders a bad idea generally, but you would legitimately receive a windfall and be able to address several needs. But it would be incredibly ballsy.

Why are you changing the topic? Now it's about championships?
I'm revoking peoples ability to talk about basketball when they say Lilard & CJ are a copy of Curry & Ellis.
It's lazy.
I've already explained why this is not the case a year or so ago.
I won't do it again.

p.s. Parker & Manu were shoot first players who sucked ass defensively yet still won rings.
(Oh I can hear the reply now... 'But they had the GOAT coach & pf')
*eye roll*

Championships are not a way to determine if players work together or not, otherwise Stockton & Malone sucked and never should've been together.
See what I did there?

Uhhhhhhhhhhh........ YES!

If it's not about trying to win a championship, what the fuck is it about!?!
first half of last season I celebrated winning quarters of basketball games....beating the Lakers is always fun

lol....
