Should the Blazers puruse Carmelo Anthony?

Carmelo has an early termination option after this season. It's pretty rare when high profile players don't exercise those and become free agents. At that point he'll be 34. So keep in mind, this could very well be a one year rental type of deal.

But we probably could get this deal done by adding the expiring contracts of Davis and Aminu rather than Leonard.

If they are fine with including Leonard in the deal, I am willing to give them a lottery protected 2018 pick and I'd much rather have this than Anderson. Offer Harkless, Davis and Leonard plus the pick for Anthony. Even if he ends up leaving next year, we will still only be Crabbe and Turner trade away from being able to sign decent players in free agency, and able to use full MLE anyway. It'd suck to lose Harkless but on the other hand we'd be getting a better player.

I don't know, does Melo get $24M a year in free agency? I highly doubt that he does.

Maybe on a one year deal, but then again what contender has that kinda cap space

Make it happen. Demand a trade for a job in Portland to your agent. Cost of living is less out you are willing to take less to secure a spot in rip city!!!!!!

I'd like to keep aminu and his good contract and defense. Melo is not good. We need aminu to come in and stop guys like paul George.
I think vonleh will break out this year nextcto nurk.

I think this is def enough to pull off these two trades. The question is, would I be ok with doing it?

The part that would hurt, which is weird for me to say is losing Crabbe. But man, we save 50m! $ if they both leave. Vonleh will be a RFA anyways.

It would def be a needle mover. I'd risk it to see the results.

You know I hate those contacts as well but they at least have the advantage of youth on their side. Big contacts for ageing players. .... Have seen way to much of that as a Yankee fan.

If it was something that would put them over the top or at least as a competitive #2 to GS, I'd think about it but I don't believe that would be the case.

Frankly I'd rather facilitate Carmelo to Cleveland and take back Love.

Never thought I'd say that.
 
I'd go with this

Dame/CJ/Turner/Anthony/Nurk

With Swanigan and Collins in the fold I would offer Harkless, Vonleh and whatever filler needed.
 
Screw it make the trade for Carmelo who's good friends with Lebron and then turn around and trade CJ/Collins/Swanigan draft pick for Lebron and you've got your super team. ;) obviously kidding
