There is a Press Conference at 2pm in New York. I haven't seen the topic but it probably is the new GM presentation. Could be interesting.

It's actually pretty smart what the Knicks are doing, they're making him look like the bad guy to their fans because he'd be making them take a shit deal to go to Houston when they could get a better deal from us plus a lot of other teams probably.
Holding onto a disgruntled veteran when you're rebuilding isn't very smart, especially when you have an opportunity to add a young player or two and not lose him for nothing.
Knicks would be dumb to not try and get something in return for Melo...they've blown it up already and need young talent moving forward
he said Houston or Cleveland....as training camp approaches, he could change his mind. They don't have that opportunity with Houston. My comments regarded a situation where Anthony didn't expand the number of teams he'd go to. If it's Rockets or nothing, I could definitely see New York choosing nothing--I think that would be rational.
So, to summarize the various positions:
1. New York is looking to rebuild and would like to move Carmelo's contract for young players with upside and draft picks.
2. Carmelo is willing to waive his no-trade clause to go to Houston or Cleveland.
3. Houston's only got Ryan Anderson's albatross of a contract to offer in trade, which doesn't fit what NY wants at all.
4. Cleveland only has Love to offer in trade, but if they were willing to trade Love this deal would have happened a long time ago.
5. Portland would like to upgrade its roster with a talented veteran, but has zero interest in helping Houston improve by taking Anderson.
6. New York has a new GM, who they're going to introduce today at a press conference, who is going to get down on his knees and beg Carmelo to expand his list of possible trade destinations.
7. NBA forums like this one are going ape shit with trade scenarios that could potentially bag Carmelo.
Does that pretty much cover 3,000 plus posts?
So, isn't that a whole lot of hoopla for a guy who is well past his prime and has never lead a team anywhere in the playoffs?

I think the problem was more Phil Jackson than the clause....hopefully the new GM will not insult him before negotiating options like Phil didThe problem is he has a no trade clause.

Texas is all about football anyway..why they need 3 NBA teams never made sense to me....send the Mavs to Seattle!!!You missed the most important one:
8. Portland landing Anthony would piss Houston fans off to such a degree that they might quit following basketball permanently

Pretty sure he got to the WCF with the Nuggets.
2008-2009 and lost to the Lakers.

Neils body language says that he's going after Melo hard.I thought Larry Bud Melman was dead.

I mean, his contract is no worse than Turner or Crabbe's... and at least he played well for ATLWait, they want to draw attention to the Tim Hardaway Jr. deal? But it was so embarrassing!
