Screwing the Blazers is

No you sound like the crowd at cuckfans.net.

I figured that place out. @KingSpeed was right, most of them aren't old enough to remember when HOU won their championships.

They're also a bunch of stoners. I have never seen a more paranoid fan base. I swear reading that forum is like watching Cheech & Chong meet Beavis and Butthead. They're paranoid that we are going to swoop and steal Melo from them. But, they are also convinced that the league is blocking this trade so they can't challenge GSW for the conference title. The league let GSW get Durant, but is blocking them getting Carmelo Anthony.

First you need to show you can get past SAS, minus their best player and another starter, before anyone will consider you a threat dethrone GSW.

Second, your "best" trade chips are Ryan Anderson (old, injury prone, 1-dimensional and grotesquely overpaid), Eric Gordon (old and injury prone) and Trevor Ariza (OLD role player). And, your roster has been so decimated, you are reluctant to give up the last two. And somehow it's the league that's keeping the rebuilding Knicks from taking back your moldy old shit sandwich for Carmelo Anthony.

Consider this, Ariza and Anderson are older than every single player on the Blazers roster and Gordon is older than everyone except Evan Turner. We have the pieces (young players on reasonable deals, expiring contracts and future draft picks) to give NYK what they want to jump start their rebuilding effort. It's not the league that's cock blocking Daryl Morey. He cock blocked himself.

Agreed....at least it is very doubtful. But what else is there to talk about with the Blazers since our biggest move in months has been 'Cash Considerations' while so many other teams (specifically in our Division) have experienced serious upgrades?

We experienced a serious upgrade last February. And these guys are still young and growing and will get better with time together. I'm not saying we don't need more and I'm not saying we don't need luck as far as Nurk's health, but I like our team and if we're patient, we could do some big things. Everyone worries about the now.

Dame

Melo
Nurkic

Crabbe
Turner
Swanigan
Davis/Collins

Yeah. If we have open spots, vets will come here for the minimum/MLE. Guys like Tony Allen for example.

I like the idea of having five guys who could score 20-25 points every game were they to get hot and the bench to be more defensive to stop scoring. You would still have Swanigan, Collins, (Aminu, Davis, Turner and Napier if they aren't traded.) to extend the lead until the starters came back to finish the job.

Hey guys! How's it going? What'd I miss? Wonder what they're saying about me at ChokeFans? Every single post should mention the score 114-75 and the Spurs' inactive roster. Don't think we need to worry about Mo's feelings if the trade doesn't happen. It's a business. He's paid well. Everyone deals with trade rumors. Sean Elliott was traded to Rockets but he failed the physical and went back to SA where he helped him win their first title. By the way, I think we'd have a better shot at Melo if Nurk had played in playoffs on ABC in a couple wins. This is why tanking was a bad idea for our group. We need to be an attractive destination.
Um, Houston lost to the Spurs in the 2nd round, including a 39 point ASS whipping in game 6...at home...against the Spurs without their best player (Leonard) and Tony Parker.
Exactly. Don't let them forget it. Harden was no show. CP3 won't help.

Anyone actually watch the video with Dame and CJ's comments about Melo? The tweets are so out of context it's ridiculous.

Dame said, "with him coming here a real possibility, I had to reach out." He never spoke to him, only texted, and never gave any indication that Melo was actually receptive to the idea of coming here. The "real possibility" comment wasn't based on anything Melo said, but was given as Dame's reason for reaching out in the first place. The only reason it's a "real possibility" is because of the report that Olshey is pursuing him, not because he has any interest in being a Blazer.

As for CJ, he never called or even texted. He said he reached out to Melo through a third party (their mutual trainer), and also never indicated that he received any response from Melo. When he was asked about Melo's response, that was when he said, "I think he's interested," meaning he hasn't heard anything and he's just guessing.

Not that many of us were really thinking he's coming here anyway, but I just get annoyed by the disingenuous click-bait that passes for reporting these days.

You guys forget that Dame and Neil prob talk to each other all the time, at least once a day, I guess. Dame knows stuff.

A clutchfans gem.

"Harden > Lillard
Gordon > McCullum

You should have stopped reading write there. I don't know what year they think it is or what planet they think we're on...

Doesn't matter, there is no place, or no time where Eric Gordon has ever been better than C.J. McCollum - EVER.

C.J. McCollum last season:
Eric Gordon's best year:

23.0 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 3.6 apg
22.3 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 4.4 apg

.480 FG%, .421 3FG%, .912 FT%, .544 eFG%
.450 FG%, .364 3FG%, .825 FT%, .506 eFG%

19.9 PER, .585 TS%, 6.2 OWS, 1.4 DWS, 7.6 WS, .131 WS/48, 2.1 VORP
18.5 PER, .566 TS%, 4.2 OWS, 1.1 DWS, 5.3 WS, .120 WS/48, 1
.7 VORP

That was Eric Gordon's best season in the NBA. It was also 7 years, two teams and several injuries ago. Even then he wasn't as good as C.J. McCollum is right now.

Here's how they stacked up last season:

C.J. McCollum 2016-17:
Eric Gordon 2016-17:

23.0 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 3.6 apg
16.2 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 2.5 apg

.480 FG%, .421 3FG%, .912 FT%, .544 eFG%
.406 FG%, .372 3FG%, .840 FT%, .527 eFG%

19.9 PER, .585 TS%, 6.2 OWS, 1.4 DWS, 7.6 WS, .131 WS/48, 2.1 VORP
13.2 PER, .557 TS%, 2.5 OWS, 1.4 DWS, 3.8 WS, .079 WS/48, 0.4
VORP

Not even close. Eric Gordon is an old, injury prone has been. Good scorer off the bench, but not part of anyone's Big 4.

And why is it, cuckfans keep "forgetting" to mention Jusuf Nurkic? Could it be, they really don't want to talk about how our Big 4 would actually be a Big 4, not just a Big 3 with the addition of Carmelo Anthony? Sure, they will have the name recognition in Harden, CP3 and Melo, but after that, they don't have shit. Their 4th best player would be either an alienated Ryan Anderson, or Eric Gordon. They currently have a Big 2, who have a history of choking in the playoffs. We have a Big 3 already in place, including the guy who cut their hearts out in 0.9 seconds. They have the guy who was a complete no show in a 39-point Game 7 drubbing at home against a team missing their best player and their starting PG.

Stopped reading "right" there.... That's where I stopped....

(I kid, I kid, FAMS! Numbers don't lie! Good post!)

Bad plan. There is only one ball. Adding more scorers to the starting line up has a rapidly diminishing return. Especially when four of those guys are defensive sieves.

Plus, we need scoring off the bench. How many times have we seen our 2nd unit blow an early lead the last several years because they simply can't score? If we end up keeping Crabbe, let him be the second (or third) option on the second unit instead of the 5th option on the first unit.

It totally cracks me up that HOU fans currently consider Eric Gordon the 3rd member of their Big 3. That, more than anything, shows how weak their roster is outside of Harden and CP3. It also shows why they have absolutely nothing to trade for Carmelo Anthony.

FIFY - Game 6

This should be mentioned in every post.

All the bench guys I mentioned are capable of scoring, moreso Swanigan, Turner and Collins but the others can as well. I also know Crabbe would be the beneficiary of shots(a lot of them) when the other team is trying to stop and double team any of the other four. It would be whack a mole/ pick your poison.

Good plan.

I would take Gordon. As my 4th guard, if money was no option.

Eh, my bad. Whatever, I could barely bring myself to pay a minute of attention after the Blazers got bounced. In any case that tax-free Texas thing is a pretty big selling point I'd wager, and Harden and CP3 definitely have a better pedigree.

(this is what I get for posting with 5 beers in me).

There is a problem with Crabbe standing out there and waiting for the ball to come to him.
They tried that last year pre-all star break and realized Crabbe needs to touch the ball and get shots consistently for him to stay engaged.
Post all-star break with actually having plays ran for him Crabbe played a little better. Not much, but a little.
I think it's a very bad plan to stick Crabbe out there with Lillard, CJ, Nurk, and possibly Melo and expect him to be ready to shoot when he showed last year that clearly that wasn't his game.

I don't know why national media gives us no chance. Houston has nothing to offer. So either he doesn't wanna come to portland or he wants to stay in new york and we know how that relationship is. Unless there is some other team besides houston and cleveland that wants him and can give new york what they want I don't see it. Seems to me it's gonna come down to New York or Portland. Might be along wait but I just don't see Houston giving up Ariza or Gordon. Signing CP3 already made their bench nothing. Who knows, I am fine with it either way, if we don't get him, fine. If we get him, fine. However if we do, it's essentially a rental for a year unless we made it to conference finals or some shit and that's a big if

I never said anything of him 'standing out there and waiting for the ball to come to him' just that he would be the beneficiary of a lot of shots, which he would be.

The question is, really, will Anthony consider Portland once he's informed that the Houston trade isn't happening because New York isn't willing to accept a load of garbage?

It hasn't reached that point yet. Anthony still seems to think Houston is an option.
