There's gotta be a pick attached. BKN wanted Crabbe, so they're getting an asset. We clearly don't want...what's his name? Nicholson? If we don't get some sort of asset then Neil really fucked up by matching BKN's offer, because now we're stuck paying $6M to a shitty player.

Maybe, but we also could have just let Crabbe go originally and saved much more. So Blazers are admitting that signing Crabbe was a mistake and are willing to pay many millions for nothing as a result.

Crabbe signed his deal in the offseason and we as well as the Brass expected a jump in production/ability. It didn't happen so they got him gone. This is great as Patty might stay and replace Crabbe.

Neil didn't fuck up.

Totally agreed. Crabbe's contract was clearly NOT the worst in the league (that would be Ryan Anderson). Crabbe was a useful, if overpaid, player. The guy we got is NOT useful, and is therefore just as overpaid - and probably more overpaid - than Crabbe is, despite being cheaper. We clearly got worse as a result of this trade, even if we did cut payroll. Because we're getting significantly worse as a result of this trade, Neil must have another trade or two lined up to make up the ground we just lost.

Neil didn't fuck up.
I don't think so, either. I think things will fall into place and the bigger picture will make sense after all the dust settles. This move was not made in isolation. On the off chance that it was, then Neil fucked up. But he's too smart for something like that.

Eastern All Star this season if this is true. (Yeah, I'm calling my shot.)

Are you kidding me?! This is effing amazing... we just dumped one of the worst contracts in the league without giving up a pick! This was a great trade!

Just because you trade 'shit' for less smellier shit doesn't mean it's not shit.

Maybe this is why there was a delay with the Melo deal? We couldn't trade crabbe to Brooklyn until today.

Not even the East is that weak. Even if Kyrie heads West, Crabbe would need to beat out one of Lowry, DeRozan, Wall, Beal, Thomas, Kemba. He'll also have to leap frog guys like Drajic, Avery Bradley, J.J. Redick, possibly Markelle Fulks, etc.

Jaynes doubles down that we're not making a deal with Houston:

"I believe this trade is a precursor to some other move or moves. The Blazers now have more flexibility. As I said earlier today, I still do not see any three-way deal with Houston on the horizon. Whatever is going on doesn't have anything to do with that proposed trade."

Hes going to. Hes going to trade the exception straight up for Gordon. Then help facilitate a Melo to Houston deal sending out Hark, Meyers, and Pat( We moved Pats guarantee date to Aug 31st so we could trade him) for Anderson. Like it or not.

So just a thought, but extending Pats deadline enabled Neil to make this deal and have time to complete the follow up deal. If follow up deal doesn't happen then the Blazers still have a bbackup SG yeah I know Pat is awful in SL but he looks competent in regular season systematic play.

So Crabbe+Hark+Myers -> Anderson+Gordon

Don't know if we're better, we're def older :(

Because you opened this new thread instead of just posting in the existing thread about the trade rumor, N.O. saw it and decided to change his plans. You have single handedly saved the franchise. Good Job

Dame/Turner/Napier
CJ/Gordon/PattyC
Melo/Layman
Swannigan/Vonleh
Nurk/Collins/Davis

That doesnt thrill me.
Do I have Gordon Right?
