NBA trade rumors: Knicks landing Bucks' Jabari Parker in Carmelo Anthony blockbuster?

Now this would be the type of trade that could excite Knicks fans.

With seemingly no traction on a potential Carmelo Anthony trade with the Houston Rockets, rumors of a third team to facilitate a transaction have been rampant this summer.

According to a report from ESPN, the Milwaukee Bucks have been on the outskirts of the conversation and looming as a potential trade partner--with young star Jabari Parker potentially in the mix to head back to New York.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported last month that Houston was looking for a third team to make a trade work. The Milwaukee Bucks emerged as a potential third team at one point, per league sources, but there was no traction toward a deal. Milwaukee has been trying to shed salary so, in all likelihood, the idea of taking back the remaining money on Ryan Anderson's contract (three years, $60 million) in a trade wasn't enticing.

One name that came up in those (very) preliminary talks? Bucks forward Jabari Parker, per league sources.

The report didn't declare if the Knicks asked for Parker or the Bucks wanted to shop the young forward, but either would be a boon to a potential return for Anthony.

It's unclear which side -- the Knicks or Bucks -- brought up Parker's name. What is clear is that Parker would have been part of an outgoing package that included a larger Bucks contract, such as John Henson's or Greg Monroe's. If that deal had come to fruition, the Knicks would have received the type of return they'd long hoped for in an Anthony trade: a young player on a below-market contract in Parker.
Parker, 22, has developed into one of the better young wings in the league. Last season, Parker averaged 20.1 points per game on 49 percent shooting from the field. Injuries--specifically knee issues--have curtailed what would have already likely been a career with an All-Star Game appearance.

The Los Angeles Lakers could land both LeBron James and Russell Westbrook in the summer of 2018.

Parker is under team control through the 2018-19 season.

If the Knicks landed Parker in a three-team deal with the Rockets, a young core of Kristaps Porzingis, Frank Ntilikina and Parker could form the nucleus of a rising team in New York.

I wonder if the new owner of the Rockets is that interested in Melo? He's more of a scratch and claw businessman than someone who fell into money dot com billionare.

Milwaukee isn't going to take on Andersons contract. They just got rid of some expensive underperforming white dudes. Houston is screwed.

If he wants to be one of the cool kids. I don't know. I don't think their ability to pull off a trade changes because of new ownership. That said what owner wouldn't want their team to be better. To be a pretender...I mean contender

He bought the team for 2/3rds of his net worth. Im not sure how much $$ he wants to lose each year.

Must be a huge rockets fan. Wonder if hes on clutchfans

This Melo nonsense seems to have given the whole league a massive case of constipation. The final moves GMs usuallymake to tweak their rosters prior to camp all seem to be on hold while they wait to see if they can get on the Melo-palouza trade. The NBA needs a massive dose of exlax to push the Melo deal down the chute.

If it has extra fiber, does that mean it will quickly move through the digestive tract so we can eliminate the "Melo to Portland" nonsense and flush it down the toilet?

Just had a wonderful BM, thanks to this thread. Use "Melo" brand Fiber Supplements, they'll make you poop!

I love the new,Rockets owner. I've actually met him. Nice guy. Although he once went to a car dealership dressed like a transient. No one helped him, so he bought it the next day and fired almost everyone
I don't see anything wrong with that....

He is. He tried buying the rockets when Alexander bought them in '93. Hope nothing changes too much. I like our FO, even Morey and his numbers.

For Alexander, what an investment. $85M in '93 to $2.2B in 24 years.

Here is a question. Do you think Melo will be traded? if so, when? deadlines tend to make teams more motivated. Figure the deadlines are start of training, start of the season, ~December 15 when signed players can be traded, or trade deadline?
or does he open up his NTC to other teams?

Curious what others think besides what Knicks and Houston fans think. They are all over the board. Houston tends to be too optimistic and smash opposing views. Knicks are everywhere and seem clueless half the time. Not much news lately, but training came is a couple weeks away.

Woj had Lowe on his latest podcast and they talked about Melo, anyone listen to it?

People are dumb.

Sometimes the people that don't have the fanciest stuff are the richest.

As stated, that doesn't quite make sense. It would be rational to fire the staff if he already owned it, and he went in undercover and found the staff to be rude/uncaring.

But if he didn't own it... why buy a business which presumably has a poor reputation? Why fire the staff when the problem could be management? Seems like you'd instead go to the next dealership, and if the staff there treats you like a king, buy that one instead. Leave the crappy one in place as weak competition.

This is why you don't own the Rockets.

So the new owner of the Rockets is going to show up courtside dressed as a homeless person and if the team doesn't win he's going to fire everyone.

I think he'll milk a season in NY and play where he wants next season....
