Because your reality and my reality is very different from a superstar basketball player's reality. This guy has never been told no.

But I'm sure his agent has. I get your point though. If he's so adamant he should take a pay cut and agree to a buyout. Let's see how bad he wants to go to Houston.

good god, we never had a chance, did we...

Lol, zombie tweet.

Nearly two and a half months later and HOU still hasn't found a taker for their shit. Maybe it's HOU that never had a chance.

Morey blew his wad on the CP3 trade, probably overpaid. Now he's left with nothing anyone else wants. The cupboard is bare.

IMHO, Morey blew any chance he had at Carmelo when he overpaid for Chris Paul back in June. I don't think Carmelo was on his radar at the time.

If you read his comments at the time of the CP3 trade, he specifically said he wanted to complete that trade as soon as possible (i.e. before July 1) so CP3 could help recruit free agents to HOU.

Carmelo Anthony isn't a free agent.

Morey specifically mentioned free agents because he knew he had nothing of any value left to trade.

Then the whole Carmelo thing fell in his lap and he was left holding his dick and trying to convince someone, anyone, to take Ryan Anderson and his hideous contract off his hands.

The Morey fanbois on the cuckfans forum think he's a god and can do no wrong, but I think he fucked this one up by overpaying for CP3 and not retaining sufficient assets to land a third member of a Big 3 to go with his superstar backcourt.

That's also where the cuckfans crowd underestimates the potential appeal of Carmelo to Portland. With the addition of Nurkic, we already have a Big 3 in place. Dame and C.J. may be a little behind Harden and CP3, but the difference isn't significant enough to overcome the fact that HOU doesn't have anyone close to Nurkic.

Right now, HOU's third best player is a toss up between Ryan Anderson, the guy NOBODY wants, and Eric Gordon, a guard who will see less playing time this season due to the addition of CP3.

If Melo comes to POR, we will have a legit Big 4 (and HOU will be stuck with their Big 2). Also, our current Big 3 are much younger than HOU's Big 2. Long term, Melo would be better off coming to POR where his younger teammates will continue to improve as he ages, rather than going to HOU where his older teammates will decline in parallel with him.

Carmelo was on the radar when Rox got CP3. I think he was part of the reason CP3 came over. Talks were probably under way with Phil and a deal structure in place. That is what the 2-yard line stuff was about. Phil got fired, Mills promoted, and Perry shyt-canned all that.

The recruit free agents was for PJ Tucker and Prince.

He did over pay for CP3, but with a deal with Phil close, he probably had an idea it would be OK.

CF probably does underestimate the draw of Portland.

I think the biggest draw for him now is playing with boaters, where ever it is. I'm pretty sure they are going to look for a team to all play together. Too much of a coincidence that all the contracts can end at the end of the season. That said, I think he opts out at the end of the season to go play with friends. So is giving up Harkless worth a one yr rental? If you know GSW still has the best shot by far.

I actually think this happens. NYK should care more about their return than trying to please Carmelo.
If they do, they will deal with us, who has many more valuable assets than Houston.

I am really starting to believe Melo will be a Blazer for the next season.

Vonleh/Leonard/Harkless/2019 1st

I honestly think thats a good package. NYK should expect more for what will likely be a one year rental, they get a soft prospect in Vonleh/ A unique big about to make a resurgence on a decent contract in Leonard and they get Harkless who on his contract is a damned good deal. Toss in a 1st and I think that is fair, plus way better than what Houston can offer.

Dame/CJ/Napier
CJ/Morrow/Connaughton
Aminu/Turner(point forward)/Laymen
Melo/Swannigan/Davis
Nurk/Collins/Davis

Obviously, like most of you, id prefer to give up Aminu over Harkless, but I dont think that gets it done and to get it done, im willing to part with Harkless.

I still dont think that makes us a solid contender alone, maybe a borderline contender. We need one more solid role player added to shore up the bench. If we can make that happen by the trade deadline ( and we should still have a bit to work with in Layman/Davis((Davis should also go so we dont have to sign him next offseason)) I think that makes us a solid contender. Able to throw down with the best in the league.

I find it disrespectful Melo is taking this long to realize what we have here is a good situation.

You have Damian Lillard and Cj McCollum that want to play with you and he's still sweating the rockets? Fuck this guy.
it is not cause he loves Houston or the Rockets. He wants to play with CP3, and Harden to lesser extent.

Considering his NTC, they kinda have no options outside of "trying to please Carmelo". If not for that, I'm sure a deal with us would have already been done, for precisely the reasons you state.
