Today is the 1 year anniversary of him joining the team in NOLA!
That was a crazy time for Melo for sure. No practice with the Team, he probably didn't even know who most of his new teammates were haha

Please no dude. Just go away please.

Just no minutes for the guy here, and Terry would forcibly play him over Hood/Roco/Jones.

I'd have been good with him back if we got a guard instead of Jones.

I believe that we should sign Melo as “Player - Coach” and give him a 3-years in the realm of 12-15 million (however this can fit). This role will win us some games and be great for our crop of wings, Hood, RoCo, CJ Elleby, Jones and Gabriel, as well as Collins and Gary Trent.

In the same vein, pick up Rondo to contribute but also to mentor our core of guards.

and this leaves a sign & trade of Whiteside for Aldridge.

with this roster and this depth, we get two and possibly three seasons to bring one home while Dame is in his prime

Melo, Aldridge, Rondo and Gabriel

can we fit them all in financially?

Whiteside as sign & trade / Aldridge?

It is strange how we haven't heard much about teams being interested in Whiteside, outside of the rumor of the Kings.

And Richaun Holmes is becoming a real nice center.
I don't know their team well enough, is it possible for him to slide over to the PF spot if they got HW?

If they are truly trying to keep Melo; I think it's a big mistake. This is not good team-building by the GM. Throwing a bunch of guys together, almost all of them one way players (and mixed on which way!) and depending on a coach with little time to gel before the season and a shorter season and a coach who I don't think is great at figuring out how to meld a team and reluctant to ask the team to do the work to figure out how to work together. Not a good situation.

Nothing about Whiteside! I’m guessing that the Blazers and his agents have a deal that is going to break later today - and the other GM’s know about it. And with no mentions of Aldridge either, I think San Antonio and Portland are hammering out details, like picks.

Of course, it's what the GM who happens to have LeBron does every season. Except for that last part - LeBron TELLS the team what to do.

Or it's not even 24 hours into free agency and they are two guys that are asking for more than they are now worth.

Interesting factoid (somewhat related to CA).

If the Blazers don't re-sign Melo or Whiteside (and don't trade HW), I think they won't have any players born before Damian Lillard. He will be the oldest player on the team.
