If what your seeing so far makes you happy….. your going to have a smile on your face for the next 6 month bro.
I'll be happy if it gives Little a chance to show what he's worth. Either he's going to prove it or not prove it. Same with Simons.
And forcing them to shit or get off the pot WILL benefit the team. All keeping Melo and Kanter would do is keep things at the status quo. This way, they'll force Little and Simons to put up or shut up. And truthfully, it's not just the two of them who will benefit from their departure (same with Stotts departure).
You don't learn how to do something without having the training wheels taken off. Melo and Kanter (more Melo than Kanter) are the training wheels.
And yes, Melo's
career will be more impressive than Simons and Littles will be (barring a Kawhi Leonard type explosion this year for Nassir), but we're talking from this point ONWARD.
I'm not happy with how the team is put together (again), because it's poorly constructed. But it would be poorly constructed with Melo and Kanter still on the team.
To me it's like this. With Melo and Kanter they're ,
at best a 6th seeded team that will go no where in the foreseable future.
With Little and Simons showing whether or not they're worth anything, sure they'll be lucky to get into the playoffs as things stand now, but if Little and Simons progress as we hope they will, it should mean they have a higher ceiling than the team would with Melo and Kanter.
I think that's what you are missing (or at least, you are presenting your argument as if you are missing that point).
I'm looking at the next 3-5 years and the growth needed from Little, Simons, Brown, etc. Imho, barring a trade to fix the starting 5, this team has peaked under Damian, at least Damian as he is now. Keeping Kanter and Melo just prolong the inevitable.
