I think we can all agree that changes need to be made, so who do you make available?


1) - Michael Pineda

2) - Brett Gardner (We still have Hicks, Heathcott & Judge)

3) - Aroldis Chapman (We don't need Betances, Miller AND Chapman)

4) - Didi Gregorius (We can move Castro back to his natural position & put Refsnyder at 2nd base)

5) - Chase Headley

....With the way starters not getting past 5 + innings, team will
need all 3 closers....many times all 3 in one game[ Girardi will

....Headley, well, would be less of a problem in a talented
line up. On this team he frustrates everybody, except Girardi!

The Yankees need a fire sale problem is who would want CC, Tex, Beltran, or for that matter Headley. for any reason, Big money poor performance, The biggest piece unfortunately is A-hole, that clown will be a Yankee until the final game of '17. . I thought Chapman could be a trade chip but unfortunately his baggage stunk when unpacked. Pineda has little value as I see it, the man is inconsistent. I always liked Gardner but his 2nd half performances over the last three seasons ain't been great and his ability to steal bases is not as advertised. Now my favorite Ellsbury, a former Boston POS signed for too much money, another guy thay may be able to get rid of but face it in many of those instances the Yankees would not get much back or would be eating a lot of salary. And then we have Cashman, skilled check writer but poor wheeler dealer. Just ask Dombroski in Boston how many times he fleeced our boy. Things ain't lookin' too good for Yankee Fans, we'd best enjoy what wins we may see. How bout the tadpoles selling the team to a caring ownership group, that would be the best start.

...was talking about this earlier...PS-wise this team has no chance. With that in mind, Chapman is a rental anyway but he and Miller will be very valuable trade chips come trade deadline time.

...I'm also all for trading DiDi or just about anyone else on this patchwork roster if the return makes the Yanx stronger going forward, maybe even eating portions of some contracts if that's what it takes...but I just don't think Cashman has the grey matter to pull off such a deal/s.

...and when I say grey matter, no, I'm not talking about his underwear.

Michael you'll notice I didn't mention guys like A-Roid, Tex, CC & Ellsbury because for the most part We're stuck with them & at this point no one would want them anyway. I only mentioned the 4-5 guys now that we may actually be able to get some kind of decent return for.

I mentioned those people so lets rehash you specifics. Chapman should net a return, Gardner possibly passed his prime value a couple years ago I think the White Sox of Angels were interested. Gregorius I don't see much value, for certain Headley too much money too little ability. Pineda too inconsistent did see A River Avenue Blues headline that the Yankees were considering contract extensions to Piney and Eovaldi. I'm all for just blowing up this group, seeing the Yankees get home grown, smart trades, an occasional free agent. As we all know Cashman is not the sharpest knife in the GM Cabinet.

Honestly I'd be okay with the youth movement & that will begin next season with Bird at first & Judge in right. If we unload DiDi as I mentioned you move Castro back to short & give Refsnder his chance at 2nd base.

Castro,
Bird,
Severino- (send back down for polishing, but then who takes his place????),
McCann,

keep Sanchez or Romine...? I'd keep Sanchez over Romine, - perhaps....

Keep Tank and Eovaldi,

then fk most of the rest, trade 3/4ths of this Team: Mr Crooked Head, and more than half the Roster of Pitchers, both SP's and RP's let 'em go for a wing and a prayer....

I love seeing Aroldis in Pin Stripes, but I've gotta' feeling he's going to want a ton of $$$ at season's end, thus trade him before season's end...(or if he can be had for 15 Mil per year, I'd sit on Him)....

Aside from his favorable salary status and still only 26 years old.

Coming off his first season as a starting SS 2015.
If WAR means anything to anyone,
9th in Def WAR (ESPN) and there were only four better who played at least 100 games.
12th (tie) fielding %
Tulo, Johnny Peralta, Hardy and Rollins were ahead of him and I don't believe highly paid older shortstops fit into the Yanks' plans going forward. lol
6th in games started -
11th (tie) fewest errors and only two SS made fewer errors and started more games-
Not saying he's the next Ozzie Smith -

9th OPS -
6th OBP
He grounded into only four DPs.
He struck out 85 times (525 AB) not too bad.

very good point, I'd not trade Sir Didi, not at a minimal basement price. At most create Open Season for SS, let DD compete, others back n forth to AAA, a constant shuttle bus...?? That's not so much an option IMO, due to a lack of depth in the Farm System.

Instead of being blinded by blue chip top dollar players, Trashman should be looking at the opposite end of talent rated spectrum of scouting reports. Look for that rare DFA, or "player to be named later" ie M. Trout in Tex's deal. Look at 'Rule 5' available players. Basically look at low cost, possible high yield, at little to no loss; players discarded by other Teams, cut.Or- keep an eye on late late round draft picks, who's scouting reports don't jive with proven talent....jest sayin'.. like looking at guys like the one who was picked in 25th in the 19th round, overall the 493rd pick of the 79 Draft. Those kind of lower rated prospect, high yield, low loss....

btw- I'd look for every way to get Ellsbury moved as well. A rubber arm, a glass body, speed gone, bat too silent, glove on the DL too much....beg Boston to take his lame ass back....

Can' remember how many games I saw at the end of last season in which Gregorius stranded more runners than the population of the Bronx. I agree with Matts, get some more SS candidates in there so he has to compete. The way this franchise has moved since the "Boss" passed away is a crying shame. This year the Yankees will probably celebrate the 20th anniversary of the '96 Championship team. Rather than celebrate old Championships and retire numbers I rather see this team get current and produce.

Like it or not, believe it or not, at this point 5/15 the Yanks (and maybe a dozen or so fans) think they're still in a "race" being 8 games out of 1st place.
As for the usual 4-6 suspects, they are practically untradeable due to age, salary, recent injury history and no-trade clauses and the Yanks simply aren't going to release them.

I can certainly see the Yanks eventually making a move or two, or three, down the road.
