What I find funny about this, and again, Bill, show us on the doll where you were hurt, is that he knows what we were willing to offer someone who didn't even interview with us. Gimme a fucking break. We came ready with a dollar amount in place without even talking to the guy? Rumors that we've talked to or discussed upwards of 10-20 candidates, including Splitter, and somehow we have a dollar amount in place for Malone? ok.

Exactly.
I guess it is possible he has an inside source that told him that, but I kind of doubt it.

Probably the same source he's been using for his other stories recently. Really starting to come across the way Jaynes used to. One shitty source that maybe doesn't know as much as they hope.

Somehow Dundon doesn't strike me as someone who lets it slip what he's offering people. People who don't care what you think about them, don't do things seeking your approval or getting consensus from randos who they know will blab.

If Splitter gets us to the second round and is competitive in that round I think he gets the job.

I do think there is enough smoke around about Dundon low-balling coaching salaries to think that some of it is true. Splitter seems to confirm it to a degree, although that's open to interpretation

the 1M number seems too ridiculous to believe it's true

I wonder if the 2 stories are slightly combined.
They offered splitter a raise from his 850k to 1-1.5, and he wisely turned it down. Then someone picks that up and runs with it as him expecting to find any coach at that price.

I don't know about this so I'll ask here:

are the same group of player agents that pretty much control player contracts the same agents that represent coaches?

my hunch would be it would be unwise for Dundon to immediately start getting sideways with some of these agents. it could bite him later. I'm also wondering if he's going to be playing hardball with any negotiations the Blazers might have with Timelord and Thybulle this summer. Maybe Cronin can be a buffer

It’s unfortunate that Tiago is having to deal with this DURING the playoffs. Having to tell his crew to pay no attention to all this as they prepare for this series.
A spot NOBODY had him leading us to. Proud of what him and his staff have been able to accomplish.

Yeah, it's kind of a "wtf?" thing. I think there has to be a learning curve with Dundon, and this is part of it. This ain't the NHL, and this ain't business as usual.
