This draft class is going to be ridiculous (3 Viewers)

If a supposed fan isn't excited, then how could they truly be a fan? There is parameters, just like everything in life. As you answered, your "parameter argument" is moot. You, Nik and many others would be excited right?

So wait. Excited is the paramater here?

We can't be angry, mad, frustrated? That's not truly a fan? Fan is short for Fanatic, you can't confine to one emotion.

There should not be paramters on a fan based on emotions... there's far too many emotions on the scale.

But, if I am to set the record straight.

6-2 is great.

But 6-2 has never made the playoffs on Nov. 14th.

I don't look at standings for a long time (voluntarily, if it's posted on here, that's different.) Based on I don't want to get my hopes up and then have it be dashed by too much early optimism.

Think of it this way: Is it easier to handle if you let the expectations slowly build instead of already at a crescendo?

I just don't like being let down. And this team has a propensity to do that. So I temper accordingly.

Expectation is a resentment waiting to happen.

Nah man…. I've been a homer since 1988 and they have never let me down. The mid 2000 was tough, but I still believed that we had talent to win games. Whatever the case, I will always look at the bright side. I will look at how this team looks much better than many anticipated. I still believe we will be a top 4 team. The stars are aligned.

You would be mad that we were 14-2?

I always thought Lionel was the reason why they won so many games! When that was questioned, I just shrugged.

Yeah. I furrowed my brow when I saw this news. It made no sense to me! He's a great coach. WCF and then the boot. Made no sense.

Oh and BTW peoples. We have our franchise lotto pick

I imagine that in Mags (Blazers) world you're either a blind homer or an asshole who hates all fun.

I'd be cautiously happy. 16 games have never made a season in basketball.

You are sooooo full of shit. The meltdown you had in game 1 of the season is proof. I don't know what angle you are trying to come at, but this "pessimism" you are trying to portray now is just being silly.

I like Lillard a lot and in time I think he'll be a very good player, but shouldn't we see how he handles a playoff series or two before we crown him?

How did a thread about the 2014 draft class turn into this?

That's a one time only night. That was fun. lol.

Couldn't that be the same thing said about Anthony Davis or any other lotto pick for that matter?

Do you not remember me saying that it was just that night?

You even commented on it. Twice.

Whatever man… If you want to play the over cautious fan now, then go for it. There are plenty on this board. If the troll you had in game one was you just trying to have fun, then you have a funny way of being funny.

We all have our roles man.

Yeah. I hardly ever troll, so sorry, most likely no repeat performances. :ghoti:

Yes.

EDIT: Caveat being that I tend to think Anthony Davis' has greater potential to be a franchise level player than a lot of other lotto picks ... Lillard included.

So in other words.....you will pretty much always be cautiously happy if we are winning. 16 games does not make a season, nor does 60. (Like when we were 50-10 and Walton got hurt)

Bottom line is some people prefer not to get their hopes up for fear of being let down. Others prefer to enjoy the moment a little bit more. To each his own. Personally I am more the cautious type, but I wish I wasn't.......
