Neil leaked this shit on a Friday afternoon and doesn't plan on doing the press conference until Tuesday. Who else can the fans lash out at in the meantime? Dame.

Why do the fans need to lash out at all? From a basketball sense, this is a good hire. How many people do you think lashed out when he was hired as an assistant coach? And Los Angeles is the cancel culture city of the world.

Firing Olshey will help, BUT at this point it's probably going to take another coach being hired (which we don't know how Damian would feel about that...the uncertainty, etc).

Whatever the situation, the way NO has handled this off season, even it's just how it comes off, hasn't helped his case for keeping his job.

Vomit comet, that's what I'm going to call the situation.
 
Trying to think of the easiest and most tangible ways to clear up the situation.

- Do you follow thru with the Billups hiring? If not, then ain't no way you're getting any candidate worth a damn to coach here this summer. Resuming a coaching search now is an exercise in futility

- Does Olshey resign/get fired? If so, who would take over this shitshow? How do you defuse the Dame stuff? Bringing in a completely new front office might push Dame out the door altogether, but it might also set him straight if the right hire is made. Someone competent could potentially sit him down, explain a quick and easy re-tooling from the top down and we're right back where we were.

I don't give one damn what happens to Billups/Olshey/Ownership/etc. But if we lose Dame, that's it.

What a nightmare.

You guys don't think this gets published without Dame's approval? Haynes source is literally Dame. Maybe Dame said this in passing. Maybe Dame told Haynes to write this to tell the fans to chill the fuck out. Whatever it is, Dame is clearly pissed, and he should be. He picked a few names out of the ones Olshey gave him. The fans decided to tear him up for it. If you want to look at anyone for fault its the fans. No one had to fucking say anything to Dame. They chose to.

With that said, what is Dame going to do? He's got 4 years left on his SUPERMAX extension. This is not even remotely similar to any other superstar asking out situation. If they trade Dame, they will get a king's ransom. If they decide not to trade him, what is Dame going to do? He's not the type to sandbag a season like Harden.

Neil didnt cause this. He hired who he felt would be a great coach for this team to make it to the next level with ball movement and defense. This city lost its goddamn mind over it. I'm not an Olshey supporter but this isn't on him. He made a solid hire. Go look at what other teams fans' thought about this hire. Most people really liked it. This is solely on the fans (not all of course) of this team and the local media

Yeah but you can't think that there's always going to be some dumb fans.... and a lot of them weren't even Blazer fans. That's the bullshit that really pisses me off.

I'd really be down with this, don't really care who we get in place of Billups. But the challenge might be the ownership group getting a hold of Dame right now.

Can Jody please sell this team to someone who actually likes basketball? Her disengagement with the franchise has contributed to all of this I think.

If Olshey didn't know there would be some fans that are upset over the hiring of Billups then he's a fucking idiot. Sure, he may have hired who he feels is the best candidate but the way he leaked it through Woj on a Friday afternoon was wrong.
