The idiotic fans objecting to hiring a candidate who's been accused of rape and whose own defense makes him sound pretty damn bad? The idiotic fans who vociferously objected to Jason Kidd thereby kind of giving anyone paying attention a clue as to how they'd react if Billups was hired? The idiotic fans that it's Olshey's job to please/at least not alienate?

The Billups rape incident was brought up by fans before the Blazers had even narrowed down the names of who they wanted to interview. It was known enough by the Blazers that they asked him about it in his interview. So nobody knew nothing really doesn't wash. Is Portland woke? Or easily outraged? Sure. That's not new. The Blazers as an organization are very very aware of this. They market it to it and profit from it. For Olshey not to either be aware or care is a concern.

If Olshey didn't see the concern by many fans over the possible hiring of Kidd when it was reported by Haynes he lives and works in a hole and needs to climb the fuck out.

If Olshey did see the concern by fans over the possible hiring of Kidd but didn't think it would and/or could possibly apply also to Billips then he is a fucking idiot.

Olshey has publicly blamed fans for shit in the past.

If you don't know your market or your audience the problem is with you, not the market.

*This is from someone who has not been upset over the hiring of Billups.

Bullshit. This board is pretty damn liberal and the poll shows that the overwhelming majority are perfectly happy with Billups. If Dame chooses to point to the vocal minority as a reason to leave, then he wants to leave and is looking for an excuse. That's fair enough - nobody should stay at a job they don't like - but fans are fickle mushheads and every athlete knows that.

The only ones he sees are the kids in his mentions on Twitter and Instagram. So yeah I’m going to blame our fans. The rational ones are rational enough not to tweet him, even if they don’t agree with the hiring, knowing their opinion is not the only one that matters. Clearly what this event has told us is theres enough twats without enough sensibility to actually grow a brain and do some critical thinking.

My wife visited Prague for a conference about 5 years before I did, and the photos I took show a shit ton more graffiti. Maybe the world is different? I went back to England and - get this - everybody's on a CELL PHONE! It wasn't like that when I left in the early 90s!

(My wife also reports exactly the same thing (homeless, drug use) about Vancouver, which wins "worlds most liveable city" on a regular basis. I guess Americans like liberty until they see its ugly side. Other cities have benches specially made so homeless people can't lie down on them - is that better?)
 
Man this is getting U-G-L-Y. If things aren't handled well there could be some dark days on the horizon.

Unfortuniently there is no "just joking" exception from the no personal insult rule. Otherwise, everyone is going to claim they're just joking. There are a few on here who see insults like this and think that either gives them the right to say shit to people or that they're being persecuted because they can't say shit to people.
