I stand behind my "feh" comment.

If he didn't have a guaranteed contract I would consider cutting him. I don't see how he will ever be a rotational NBA player. With such a horrific jumpshot, and playing SG, he needs to be amazing in other aspects of the game to play at the level of a replacement player. Barton has a long way to go to hit that minimum competency level and he doesn't have too much upside. Maybe a team that needs to add salary to get to the minimum cap like Atlanta would take him off our hands for free.
Fight for your feh, Nik. Don't get pushed into some fallback compromise like
Yeah, Barton made me think of Augmon too when we got him. The difference is, Augmon is smart.I was really hoping he would develop into a Stacy Augman type. He could get there someday. Augman had a horrible jump shot throughout his career, but his defense and running the break was what made him special.

When a game devolves into straight up rat ball, Barton is an All Star. Hopefully we don't have too many of those games, unless we are the team that's ahead by 20 in the 4th, of course.
If there were some way to bring Barton in when an opposing wing is torching us and tell him to go all spider man on defense, and to pass, not dominate the ball, on offense, that would be cool. But seemingly impossible.
I know it's still early but we all talk about how Wes could be a good sixth man but how about Will Barton?
He's not a very young player.
He's not quite ready to help us on a consistent basis. Couple years away. Outlaw 2.0
He's 8 months older than CJ. He's over a year younger than Damian. Jesus Ed, as you get older you like 'em younger.
For an unskilled player, he's quite old.
Both CJ and Damian are polished products, especially on the offensive end. They can (and hopefully will) improve defensively, but they can score.
If Barton were 19 and raw offensively, it would be excusable. As it is, he's 22 and I don't think it's likely he's suddenly going to be anything approaching average in NBA offensive skills.
