This matchup reminds me of the first Denver series (1 Viewer)

You gotta play a series of perfect games but we just won once under the more exacting eye of playoff officiating. We gotta keep our cool though.

I'll be happy with one win and multiple competitive games.

The Spurs rotation is something like Fox, Castle, Vassell, Champagnie, Wemby, Barnes, Johnson, Harper, Kornet. That is a lot of talent. I've watched them play more than a few times this year besides our games and when I say I'll be happy with one win what I mean is I'll be ecstatic if we don't get swept.

I dunno we have a shot, they are so good when everyone plays and Wemby is amazing on both ends.

I'm not going to worry about competing to win the series. Actually kind of fun to be in the playoffs without this fear of expectations or burden to win.

But if we can have two good games maybe we can get it to 5 or 6 games. That would be a huge success. If we get to a game 6 at the Moda does Lillard walk down the tunnel? Would be pretty exciting.

Injury to Wemby or multiple other starters is the only way we compete to actually win the series IMO. Which I'm not rooting for but is certainly a non zero chance of happening.

A random thought about the play-in: what a good warmup for 7/8 to get before facing 1 or 2. I hope it eventually gives us better, more competitive first round matchups.
I think it's a benefit for a team like us. The whole playoffs are a benefit for us though even if we lose games.

Veteran playoff team then the 7/8 experience doesn't have value.

The thing that's weird to me (and even saying this I think the Spurs are clear favorites) is how people are acting like the Spurs have tons of experience in the playoffs and because the Blazers don't. And despite the fact that the Spurs don't actually have tons of experience, the Blazers are the only team that is going to show it.

Now they might show it, and the Spurs talent might over shadow their lack of experience (Victor isn't human so it probably won't matter to him), but the majority of the important players on the Spurs roster has the same amount of playoff experience as Deni, Scoot, Shaedon, DC and Tou have. 0.

Of their rotation guys, Barnes and Fox are the only ones with playoff experience, and Fox just has 7.

Jrue has experience (including 2 trips the finals), Rob has experience (including a trip to the finals), Jerami has experience (1 wcf's), Tisse has experience too. Having your leader (I'd say Jrue is the leader of the team) having experience is a lot different than having a role players (Barnes) as your playoff experience guy.

Again, not saying this means Portland is the favorite or that San Antonio is going to fold like a cheap suit...just that it's strange how someone in the local media (I won't say his name, but there's a pie with a very similar sounding name) acts like the Spurs have tons of experience and the Blazers have none.

But he's the same idiot who thinks that the Mormon Church owns Pepsi.

I'm thinking WE'RE Denver and the Spurs are the Sonics. We have Mutombo (Clingan)!

If we're going to compare teams, I think the year that the Mavs lost is more apt.

Mavs had a unicorn (Dirk) who won MVP, was an all star and a NBA 1st teamer, and the Warriors were a plucky underdog, who also finished 42-40...

Tho that Mavs team was slow (28th in pace), but also had a lot of playoff experience before that.

Our team is gritty. We have really good, physical defenders. I think we have a shot.

With that said, I'll go back to my original comment. If the refs allow us to play, without calling every touch foul in the world, we will have shot. If we get the Anthony Davis treatment from the bubble, where we would catch a foul if we even breathed on him, then we are done.

who is saying that?

The thing that I find kind of interesting is that Clingan hasn't played against Wembanyama since December 2024.

The Spurs have held him out of every game against the Blazers since then when Clingan was playing.

And that's made me wonder a bit about the Spurs not wanting him to get muscled around by a physically stronger guy who is almost as tall.

I'm not going to argue that Clingan is anywhere near the talent of Wemby or that he'll come close to matching him in this series. I don't think he will. That said, I think Clingan has some advantages he can exert around the bucket and maybe push Wemby around a bit, which could impact his game and the series. If Clingan can turn Wemby into basically a 7-4 perimeter player, that's to the Blazers advantage.

4 games to go to end this godforsaken 5 year run.

Can't wait! Just get to the new era this was one was an utter waste of time and im glad I didnt waste it watching them.

You do know you're never gonna get laid with an attitude like that, don't you? Sentenced to a life giving reach arounds, never the recipient. And who the f**k is gonna let you stand behind them and grab ahold with that kind of negative and petulant stream of consciousness?? Talk about an erection killer.......

Danny Marang. He's the king of changing his narrative.
At the start of the year he predicted they'd win 36 games or fewer, but then magically changed to 41 or 42.
He is the worst person to listen to on our radio. I have no idea why they keep forcing him down our throats.

I'd rather listen to Bones. Too bad his homeboy who I also am not a fan of (steven) can't get him on more.

I've just heard snippets of the guy and haven't liked him much. If he's claimed the Spurs have a lot playoff experience he's full of it

Blazers: Jrue + Grant = 132 playoff games

Spurs: Fox + Branes + Kornet = 121

Olynyk and Plumlee have playoff games but they almost never play

Rob Will?

Rob has 56 playoff games. That puts our vet total at 188 compared to the Spurs 121.

56 post-season games played.

And 25 for Thuybulle.
And I think more importantly, series wins:

Rob - 8
Jrue - 12
Grant - 2

Fox - 0
Barnes - 8
Kornet - 9

Spurs - 17
Blazers - 22

But Fox is the most important player of those three and he hasn't won shit, while Jrue is the best of our three and he has 2 rings.

Marang's idea of journalism is to answer his own questions and ask if the coach or player agrees with him. It's always all about him.
Marang, "Coach, don't you agree with me that when you blah, blah, blah blah blah blah blah the it results in blah blah blah blah blah? Did you know I was in the Air Force?"
Coach, "What was the question again?"

"Did you know I was from LA? USC DAWG..."

Even though his formative years were in Oregon....

He's kinda pompous.
