THOMAS ROBINSON A BLAZER

How long did those guys toil around in Europe? What has Valanciunas done in the NBA to get lumped in with those other guys?

I would take the Toronto V guy in a heartbeat (won't happen though). Better numbers the Asik when he was just coming into the league.

At least one Rockets fan likes it for them:

I have yet to see a Rockets fan squeal about losing Thomas Robinson, and they've known for a month he was being dumped.

That's because they want Dwight Howard. Of course they don't care if they lose Robinson if they get Howard. If they don't get Howard, though, they have relegated themselves to a fringe playoff team, which they were last year. For the Blazers, it's a nice pick-up on the cheap.

Faceless Euros like Omer Asik, Jonas Valanciunas, Nicola Pekovic, Danilo Gallinari, et al? I bet you'd never heard of them when they came over, had you?

I'm not saying Euros are worthless. I'm explaining a bias I admittedly have. Especially as a Blazer fan. Claver and Freeland are barely serviceable.

Roy Hibbert ✔ @Hoya2aPacer

@t_robinson0 is gonna b a good player. Watch. Gonna make teams pay for trading him like he's nothing.
...

:)

"I'm just glad to to get an opportunity to play," Robinson told CSNNW.com. "This is a business and Houston is a making a business move. I'm just happy to be in another situation to get an opportunity to play."

This is the second time Robinson, 22, has been traded as he was drafted by the Sacramento Kings before being dealt to the Rockets midway through the 2012-13 season.

"It's all about being in the right situation," he said. "Hopefully I'll be in that situation in Portland. But I'm cool right now."

Thought you never liked Robinson or were you just trolling us?

I didn't like him as a top pick in the draft. As a back-up PF playing 20 mpg, he should be solid.

I thought he'd be a bust as a franchise player/top 5 draft pick. Looks like I was right on that one.

Hopefully he'll do well filling in for Hickson. He'll be cheaper than Hickson, and may have more potential defensively with is 7'4 wingspan. But his former teams didn't seem to think to highly of him, so maybe he can come and prosper here like Hickson did.

So we now have the 5th, 6th and 11th picks from last year's draft.

When you know you are getting Howard; you don't worry too much about Thomas Robinson. Almost everyone knows Houston was one of the front runners

I wasn't worrying about Robinson without getting Howard. WTF this guy can't even make Free throws.

Neither can Howard. Or Wilt. ;)

But yeah, big guys get fouled late in games. I hate it when they can't make their free throws.

Dame/ CJ
Wes/ Crabbe/ Will
Nic/ Claver
LA/ TRob/ Freeland
?? / Leonard/ Withey

Man, even a serviceable C, and we're in that playoff hunt for sure

Check out Thomas Robinson's video scouting report:

He was a man among boys in College. That doesn't always translate to the NBA but I think it is a good gamble.

It's pretty much pointless to look at his stats. He played so sporadically, they mean absolutely nothing.

On a side note, if everyone stays, our summer league team should be fun

Zags, where'd you go? Is it "trolling" if I didn't think Robinson was worth a Top 5 pick? He wasn't, obviously.

I'm here. Big men have a harder time of adjusting to the NBA game and he was played sporadically. He's a physical specimen that has a great motor. In that draft he's a top 5 talent. I'm glad Olshey has an eye for talent like I do.

The Kings took McLemore from Kansas the very next draft after Coach Bill Self fooled them with Robinson. Self coached Robinson 3 years and hardly played him the first 2. The impression I get is that Robinson is dumb, a slow learner. Even Kevin McHale, the best big man coach in the NBA, gave up.

This article, dated 4 days ago, is wrong. It says that 2 teams offered a 1st round pick for Robinson.

OK

Not sure how his 3rd team in a year means I was wrong about him being an elite player in last year's draft. I like the pick-up for him as a bench player, which is what he was coming out of Kansas.
