To the people who feel the need to constantly bash Dame

Welcome to our community

With all this talk of Dame and CJ, why do people so rarely mention their defense? Wondering if we can ever be a good defensive team with them is pretty much my only concern with them going forward. Do you guys just think all we need is a shot blocking center and their defense won't matter or something?

The defense is more concerning to me. Shot selection can easily be improved.

Then you disagree with the Blazer organization. They haven't given CJ the keys to the franchise like they have Dame.

I don't see people claiming that CJ was an all-star snub.

CJ was nowhere in sight in the MVP voting.

It's ridiculous to put them at the same level today, whether CJ has tried to do that himself or not.

Exactly. Lillard 9-30 and 5-18 on 3s killed us.

The role players all stepped up. Cj btw was 4-9 from 3 and 9-22 from the field. Granted that isn't great (3 point shooing was) but it also wasn't a famine night for him.

I hope dame can come back better next year and cleans up his shot selections maybe this is all part of the process

I'm compelled to bash people who have never posted in the forum and end up winning an autographed basketball.
I'm actually negotiating a trade...he wants the Blazer Dancers Calendar, I just know it..and I am so glad to have the autographed ball and calendar from this Blazer team!

It's a true testament to how well this team has performed all year & increased people's expectations to the point that people are actually getting upset at the fact that in the 2nd round of the fucking playoffs, they weren't able to tie the series against the best team to ever play in the NBA, because the 1st unanimous MVP had an unprecedented overtime.

Why has this team over-achieved so much? Well if you've read any of the numerous articles about Dame and his leadership, you know why.

I love Damian. Love everything about him and what he represents.

As Stott's said in his pre-4th quarter interview, most of Dame's misses were good shots, shots he makes, they just didn't go in last night. Same for a lot of other players, several of which missed layins last night. It's basketball, it happens to the best of them.

Some must not remember the 5 for 23 game Steph had last year in the NBA finals. That same series Lebron had games of 11 for 35 and 7 of 22. Obviously Dame's not shooting well overall in the series (38%), but even MJ had series like that (41% in the 96' NBA finals, with not nearly the number of attempted threes).

The season has been so encouraging when looking to the future. If Damian, CJ and Stotts can do this with the 3rd youngest team and the lowest payroll, how can you not be excited?

Realistically CJ and Dame are held to different standards, as should be the case today.

Nobody is criticizing Montero for not carrying the team to victory.

CJ and Lillard are 1a and 1b. Blazers rarely are on the court without one of them on the court to run their offense through.
Being an all-star or having MVP votes has nothing to do with it. One is based off popularity, and the other is based off of talented players in the league.
The conundrum is when Jason Quick recognizes what some people don't.(there is a reason why he picked CJ as team MVP)
CJ played at an elite level this year, and without CJ playing at this level the Blazers do probably win only 27 games.
The point is CJ holds himself, and should be held by others to the same level as Lillard is held to. Simply because he's proven he deserves to be held to that level. Lillard has gave him the opportunity to hold himself to that level. And CJ delivered in the regular season.
But it's not that way.
It's a constant bash of Lillard everywhere while ignore someone who over this years playoffs. Has under performed by his season standards... I won't even mention last year against Memphis.. Who had First Team All defense guarding him... And he couldn't do anything to even slow CJ down.

I guess instead of responding to these people who bash Lillard and ignore CJ, I could always use the ignore button... Which is what I might end up doing unfortunately.

I don't think people appreciate the fact that the Blazers achieved something no other team did... we beat one of the historically greatest team in league history twice.

Terry (just like Steve) are great at making adjustments between games and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the Blazers give them a real scare at home in Game 5.

Yep; right now the line is GSW -12.5; I'd take the under on that. I think it's gonna be close for most of the game.

Blazers aren't going to give up, so the Warriors better be ready for their upcoming ass whipping!

I guess we'll agree to disagree.

It's great that CJ wants to hold himself to the same level as Dame, but he isn't there yet. Dame is the best player on the team, team leader and has more experience than CJ.

I'm not saying CJ can't be assessed, but this thread was about Dame.

The worst kind of troll is the subtle troll.

Actually this thread was directed at the posters who go around the forum bashing Lillard... If you look at the title.
Nate brought up stats Lillard put up that these posters choose to ignore.
The people who are MIA whenever Lillard has a game like he did in game 3.
These are the people that are ignoring the decline in production CJ has had in the 2016 playoffs.

I like CJ, I like Lillard. But I will be equally critical of both because that's what their talent level deems necessary.
Especially when I read people saying they think CJ is better than Lillard like what happened so often during the season.

I personally don't give a shit if he goes 9-30 because the guy plays at 100% effort for the entire game. He was going hard from start to finish. I would rather see Dame take a shot and miss, because any shot might get him in a rhythm. He had a rough first half, and then he came alive when the game mattered and shot 50% the rest of the way. People keep saying he had a few bad shots, or several, or whatever, but I personally don't care about several bad shots. Most of his misses were good shots that didn't stay down. At least 3 or 4 were practically down and just popped out. If he makes those, he goes 13/30 or 14/30 and it doesn't look bad.

People need to get off his jock though. We wouldn't be here without him. This team is nothing without Dame. Period.

You need to realize that agreeing that we wouldn't be here without him and seeing areas for improvement aren't mutually exclusive. I'd guess that the first part is a generally accepted truth around here so there is nothing to discuss.

You also need to understand that just because YOU don't give a shit that he goes 9-30 doesn't mean that it's bashing to think that some of those shots going to another player might have helped the team more last night.

Do you think Dame takes 30 shots if we still have Aldridge/Matthews/Batum?

He's shooting more because the team NEEDS him to shoot more.

Do you think Dame would take those shots if Stotts told him not to? I think he has a green light, and I think Terry wants him shooting.

He needs to shoot more than what?
