Toronto is a good example of why we should stay the course

To be fair, they did win 4 more games in the Playoffs than the Blazers. Still, the let it bake thing only works with better ingredients and it doesn't take that long. You either have it or you don't and you don't spend year after year lurking around the #8 seed and just getting into the first round. That accomplishes very little past 1-2 years.

There is a lot of hate for the "Let it Bake" strategy, which is unfounded.

Some of the top teams in the league let it bake. Most of all of the bottom teams did not.

Again, the ugly truth is that it takes a lot of luck to compete for a championship. Panic moves
are not necessarily the right moves, regardless of how much fun they are to ponder.
Who let it bake?

There is nothing to bake here... Dame and CJ will be 28 and 27 next season... they are who they are... and because they play ISO ball and take half the shots it will be hard to develop another star. Collins will not get the touches required with Dame/CJ combo being the centerpiece of the offense

So, we should trade Lillard? Interesting theory.

SA drafted Duncan, number 1 overall, and won a title in year 2. He is arguably the greatest PF in NBA history. We are not that team. We don't have a player like him. We do not have a coach like Pop.

GS drafted Klay Thompson, and 2 time MVP Steph Curry in the lottery after sucking for years. Then got lucky with Green, fired their coach and hired a TV analyst as a coach, then signed the second best player in the world.

We have different definitions of let it bake

Both teams got lucky as hell, I agree. Regardless, both kept their core together.

How did the Warriors get lucky?
They drafted curry, green, Klay. They traded Monta for Bogut who was critical to the first title. They hired a far better coach when they were already winning with Jackson. They brought in jerry West. They hired a great GM with no experience. They drafted solid role players like Looney, McCaw and signed FA Quinn cook. They have made a series of great moves over the past seven years. They traded garbage for Igouala. They signed Livingston. Luck?

Because their cores were better than everyone elses core

That's the difference between them and us

Nice strawman. I didn't say there wasn't a difference between them and us. In fact, I mentioned that explicitly - they were lucky.

I think you'll get your wish. I don't see Olshey messing with his homegrowns that he hangs his reputation on. If the core had a higher ceiling, I'd be on board with baking. I think Stotts has tapped out the potential with this group. Who, realistically, can take a sizeable leap and elevate the team with it? Maybe Collins and Nurk, but they're athletically limited players whose ceilings are not that much higher than where they currently play.

To their credit, the Blazers became entertaining and watchable again. That's important, but they still disappointed us yet again. We're the Webster's definition of middling and it seems like it's been that way forever. So, I hear baseball may be coming to Portland?
Most NBA teams disappoint their fans every year. Only one team wins.

While I don't think we have the talent to win it all, it's definitely a mindset problem. But is that on Stotts or the players?
They're one of the youngest teams in the league. It's an age and experience problem.

Klay was drafted at No. 11 and Curry was a 7 pick. I think that for what those two guys have achieved, most would say that the Warriors got a bit lucky on those picks as well.

Boston is younger than us
Dallas is older than us

It's a talent problem

Here's a question: since Toronto should be as worried about their team as we should be about ours, we might be in positions to make a deal with each other for a big talent swap. Could moving players between teams (talent allocation) possibly help both teams?

GSW let it bake.

I don’t hate the let it bake strategy if it seems like progress is being made. Or that team is figuring stuff out, yes the Blazers got the 3 seed but losing one more game would’ve changed that... In the playoffs though they’ve been routinely beat down for a few years now.
I feel like it’s time for some changes, but if others feel like letting it bake longer than we can agree to disageee on that.
Ultimately it seems like PA and NO want to keep the core together and they’re the ones making decisions.
Maybe we hit on our Draymond type guy in the Draft this year.

Well, they did change one major thing...
They changed one major thing because he wasn't good enough to be in the future plans. Trying to say CJ or Lillard is the same as Ellis is kind of wrong on every level. They are both head and shoulders better than Monta Ellis. But i do understand the Blazers could trade one of them and get some good pieces back but they would also have to tank to get a top 10 pick to replace CJ eventually.

That’s funny. I could have swore that GS traded Monte Ellis. Guess I was wrong.
You were indeed wrong.

We signed ET. That doesn't mean that if we made no trades or signings for the next year, we didn't "let it bake".

One trade does not counter a bake.

I think he is talking about the coach man.
