We gonna dump Aminu and Layman or probably wade to safe Pauls Money again. Thats the strategy again
This theory stems from a stupid tweet from a guy who is just as negative about the Blazers as you are. What team could take Aminu back without giving us something in return? Until you can answer that question stop posting nonsense.

As pointed out to you on NUMEROUS occasions if that was the fucking plan why not just cut them to begin with? At least make sense when trying to troll.
Because it makes no sense to dump wade or layman now if you can dump them in february

meh....I like what I see in both Layman and Swanigan and a 2019 first round pick is something I want to keep around. Seems like a risky lateral move including losing a pick to me...if we got a Jimmy Butler deal I'd sure move some assets but this ain't a Jimmy Butler deal to me.

Bro, Prince put those numbers up against actual NBA comp, not summer leaguers.

So we kept them now because we want to do a salary dump in February? LMAO
I don't get what's so funny. We did the same with Noah last year. I'm sure we can find takers for them at the deadline like we did with Vonleh. Give em a shot for the first few months then cut losses.

But Noah was guaranteed already. His point is, if the goal was save money, then they wouldn't have guaranteed their deals
Ya we'd have to find a trade instead of being able to cut them. Don't think it will be all that hard to find a trade partner.

Maybe sacramento??? Vlade and Neil made a Lot of Deals in the past. Neil:"Hey vlade my Friend can i Send you Aminu to safe our owners Money? He's on an expiring cheap Contract and i Don't want anything in return" Vlade: sure i'll take him till the end of the Season, have a nice day"...Thats probably the conversation

But with vonkeh,we had to pay money to move him. Again, their deals weren't guaranteed. If it was $$ saving, you wouldn't guarantee them just to move them with cash or a 2nd, you'd just waive them.

As of right now they could do that but if they sign or trade for someone else between now and then they won't be able to. So the plan is to go in to the season hoping Sacramento would just take him to help us out? I know you hate Olshey but why on Earth would anyone ever have that plan?

As of the trade deadline, Aminu will probably only be owed an additional 2.5M. I'm sure if we really need to get under the tax line, it won't be hard to find a team to take Aminu and cash in exchange for a top-55-protected 2nd.

Yeah because it doesn't matter whats the payroll is, until february of course...

After the Melo trade, the Kings are the ONLY team in the ENTIRE NBA that have enough cap room to absorb a contract of Aminu's size or bigger. So our whole off season strategy revolves around hoping ONE TEAM wants to take him at the deadline?

Edit: We'd also only have 12 guys on the roster so we'd have to sign two more without going back over the tax line.

I'm not giving up! Ha ha, just kidding, I'm sitting here crying right now.

Layman and Swanigan for Thon Maker and Tony Snell (using the TPE)

Blazers get a more athletic big man to pair with Collins in the 2nd unit and a wing who shot +40% on 3-pointers the last two seasons. Bucks clear over $10 million in salary this season and the 3 years left on Snell's deal.

Dame/Baldwin/Turner
CJ/Curry/Trent/Simons
Harkless/Snell/Stauskas
Aminu/Collins
Nurk/Maker/Leonard

We don't do this without going deep into the luxury right? Is it realistic to think we'd do this? I don't think it happens with the MyTurner contracts being so big.

I think Detroit and Chicago, at quick glance, might also have TPEs big enough, but yeah, very few

Of course it isn't realistic. Like I said I was hoping Allen recognized that going deep into the tax was the best and only way to really take a big step forward but I guess the money isn't worth keeping Dame happy.

Chicago had to renounce their trade exceptions to be under the cap to sign Parker. As we've seen TPEs rarely get used so I didn't factor them in because assuming other teams would want to use them is foolish.

Edit: Charlotte has one from the Howard trade but extremely unlikely to add salary. Denver has one but spent the entire off season clearing one year deals from their books by attaching assets so there is no chance they add one back. OKC might get one big enough in the Melo trade but it would cost them like $60 million to add Aminu so no way. That is it, no other teams currently have an exception big enough.

Ouch

yeah...but to me the Hawks would have had trouble against the summer league competition....Layman or Swanigan would probably put up big numbers for the Hawks last season and most of that NBA competition was in the east....I'm not comfortable giving up either guy for this package especially giving up a 2019 first round pick...Luke Babbitt looked good on the Hawks and he sucks...I'm of the opinion that both Layman and Swanigan could make the leap this season...even though nobody else around here is....I'd trade ET or Meyers for Prince and Plumlee but still wouldn't throw in a first round pick...we're going to need that pick next summer..the Hawks are probably one of my top 3 most disliked franchises in the league

Would you see Prince ahead of Harkless and Aminu? He doesn't seem like a real improvement to me, just another support player.

Lets put it this way:
Harkless has a career high of 28 points in a game while with Orlando. Prince had 6 games just last season where he scored 28 or more including two 38 point games. Harkless has a career high of 4 assists in a game. Prince had 16 games last season with 4 or more assists including 2 games with 8 assists. I know stats aren't everything but I think this shows that Prince has a lot more potential than Harkless while providing similar defense.
