Is this guy trying to get fired??
Is this guy trying to get fired??
I had to click on the link just to find out he worked for the Oregonian. That's how relevant his job is.

Someone tell me what his car looks like, and I'll roll by the PF and tell you if it's there.I would bet anything that Neil is on vacation and the offices are closed. We're all sitting here updating twitter and holding the last lil breath of hope-- pointless. I'll prolly shut down for the summer here in a bit as well.
Your argument flies out the window when you realize we're still paying Harkless/Leonard/Turner a combine 40 million next season. And all three are worse than either Batum or Crabbe. Don't give me that Harkless > Batum garbage -- you know the game. We're supposed to be outraged that we aren't grotesquely overpaying below average players? Sure, ok...

No need to get into stalker mode, but I'm pretty sure no one will be there.Someone tell me what his car looks like, and I'll roll by the PF and tell you if it's there.
Yeah he has nothing to show for it but 49 wins last season. How many games did Crabbe, Barton and Batum win last year? How much did they get paid? Were they worth it to their current teams? Barton, probably. Crabbe and Batum, definitely not. None of those "solid assets" made the playoffs. Two of them have two of the worst contracts in the entire league relative to their production.
Crabbe made $19,332,500 last season for a PER = 12.3 player who has had a negative BPM every year he's been in the league.
Batum has three years left on his contract at $24,000,000, $25,565,217, $27,130,434 for a guy who posted a PER = 14.4 and shot below league average from 3-point range for the 4th season in a row. Chief and Moe are both better 3-point shooters than Batum, both play better defense and combined make less than 2/3 what Batum makes.
We're supposed to be outraged that we aren't grotesquely overpaying below average players? Sure, ok...

Tim Brown is Everyman; you ain't.
I respect the hell out of you BNM but we matched on crabbe! We spent 18.5m and planned to spend 60mil more on a guy who is below average in your own words. You would think so. But skewing facts to fit a narrative, like ignoring sample size when comparing Crabbe to Harkless seems to be the rage these days among Neil apologists. You know this.
According to you, harkless is a better shooter from 3 than:And don't give me that Crabbe > Harkless garbage. Crabbe is a 1-dimensional spot up shooter who can't create for himself or others and is an absolutely abysmal defender. The ONE thing he does well is knock down open 3-pointers.
Well, guess what? Last season Harkless shot better from 3-point range than Crabbe (.415 vs. 378). Offensively, there isn't much difference, but on the other side of the ball, Harkless blows Crabbe away. Moe has been a plus defender every year he's been in the league. Crabbe has been a negative defender every season of his career.

Good, I'd hate to be average. I've seen what "everyman" looks like. I strive to be better.

Letting crabbe walk after Brooklyn offered him in 2016 was the only rational move. Instead of letting him walk and spending that money wisely on another asset we had to take on 21 mil in dead money to get rid of him.
It was a stupid stupid stupid ass move that Neil cleaned up as best he could (and did a decent job given the circumstances that HE PUT US IN). Trying to justify it is like trying to find solace after your dog gets into the trash, because the dog ate most of what it took out and you only have to clean up a little bit. You’re ignoring the very cause of the problem or that there even is one.
Yes. We’re supposed to be outraged at a gm who totally hamstrung the franchise for years with below average players on terrible deals. That is normal.
You know this.
Funny. The point is I think the reality is in between Olshey sucks and Olshey is a tactician. You seem entrenched is all at this extreme position. I just don't get it.
According to you, harkless is a better shooter from 3 than:
Dame, CJ, James Harden, Paul George, Eric Gordon, Brad Beal, Lou Williams, nearly as good as Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, etc etc etc.
No wonder Neil gave him such a huge contract.
You're better than this. Stop being pedantic.

Until I hear from the horses mouth all the bad moves are Paul and all the good ones are Neil I have a hard time blaming anyone who’s job description isn’t general manager and president of basketball operations. Just personally, if you know an asset isn’t worth it, it’s your job as a gm to tell ownership that and fight for what you think is best. Not just allow stupid moves to happen on your watch. That’s called being bad at your job.Reports at the time were it was Paul Allen's decision to match Crabbe and he did not hesitate or even want to discuss it.
The tweet I was responding to was lamenting how we no longer have "solid assets" Crabbe, Barton and Batum. 2 of those 3 are below average players on terrible deals - two of the worst deals in the entire league. Yeah, Neil fucked up in the summer of 2016. I have never claimed he didn't, but the tweeter was actually lamenting that we aren't the ones overpaying Crabbe and Batum.
That's not the same thing as being a Neil apologist. I've never been a Crabbe fan and thought matching him was a bad move from day 1. But, what's done is done. You can't undo it (although the tweeter seemed to wish we could), no matter how much bitching and complaining you do.
Do you wish were were the ones still overpaying Crabbe? Do you wish we were the ones who owed Batum $24,000,000, $25,565,217, $27,130,434 over the next three years? That was the context of my post. If you agree with the tweeter, then we'll just have to agree to disagree, because I don't.

Multiple reports suggest that PA was not willing to let assets walk, a year after LMA left.
