Does this season matter?

For me I have to think that getting into the playoffs, at least giving Dame that little shot in the arm and at the same time conveying the pick to Chicago and therefore freeing up all of our future picks would seem like what we're going for.

I feel like if we miss the playoffs and end up with a lotto pick, the Knicks pick and all of our future picks still held up by Chicago... it might make more sense to Dame at that point to move on but I've thought that before and he's stayed loyal. So maybe this season doesn't matter.

It sucks if it doesn't because Dame is playing as well as anyone else in the league right now.
