It feels to me like we're trying to outbid Boston by finding a guard that's comparable to Marcus Smart.

Is this the part where Olshey tells Woj he’s trying? I’ll believe it when I see it.

Why would Orlando do that, Oladipo is an expiring. Would they get bird rights?

Yes.

Oladipo is a better player to pair with Vuc than Smart. If Orlando was blowing it up, they'd trade Vuc.

I will add that supposedly Houston was the front runner but Gordon said he wouldn't play there. So if we make a deal with Houston for the players that they would have sent to Orlando, we could theoretically pry Gordon from Orlando.

Oladipo makes sense back in Orlando if they plan on re-signing him, especially since Fournier evidently told them he’s not signing with them. So maybe that three way where we get Gordon is a possibility. Still, this is Olshey. I don’t believe anything until it actually happens.

I think that would be the plan. Supposedly Houston had an offer in place, which I can only assume was Oladipo and picks for Gordon. But Gordon said he wouldn't play in Houston. So presumably if we can pry Oladipo away from Houston we can ship him and picks to Orlando for Gordon.

The Powell link makes no sense, unless we’re trading Trent?

Pretty stupid if true, since Gordon has another year left on his deal after this. Magic don't really have to cater to his whims. This tells me that either 1.) The picks are low 20s picks or super protected or 2.) The Magic care about Gordon's wants.

If the second is true, then Gordon has some say in where he wants to end up. I know you aren't allowed to "recruit" players from other teams but come on.....everyone knows it's happening.

I don't know man. That's just what was reported a few days back.

Houston Rockets players were under the impression a few days ago that a trade for Gordon was close to being finalized and a last-minute hiccup killed the deal, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Gordon has no desire to be traded to a team in a rebuild and is only interested in joining a team that has the potential to make a playoff run, sources said.

One key party with knowledge of the talks disputed that it nearly reached the point of completion. It would have likely involved Victor Oladipo. However, any team that seeks a trade for the Orlando Magic versatile forward would prefer to have some assurances that Gordon would agree to an extension, sources said.

This could decrease the trade options for Orlando. Gordon, 25, is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2022.

The actual quote makes it sound more like a suggestion from Woj than actual intel. Him saying Portland is active means almost nothing, I swear he’s fed that line from Olshey every year.

Norman Powell would be an amazing get. I’d take him over any of the other guys being mentioned. Young, very solid defender and versatile. Would be a big upgrade over Trent
