my belief is that neil olshey has spoken or will spoke with chauncey billups & dame lillard about some potential trades, first and foremost cj mccollum

im sure hell ask guys what they think of siakam, simmons or harris, would they improve the team etc... maybe they want to keep cj mccollum, maybe theyd be open to a trade, who knows

i just dont believe neil olshey would do such a big trade without talking to the head coach and franchise player

I see Dragic kind of trashed Toronto in an interview. How about CJ, Jones, Little and Simons for Siakam and Dragic? They save $6 million and avoid having a guy on the team that doesn't want to be there. We would finally have a good pg to run the second unit.

hmm what is his problem with Toronto? He is 35 so he has like two years left, tops. I don't know what his contract is though. I can't imagine Toronto would want CJ if they just signed Trent, however.

he wants to play with a contender probably

Dragic want to play with his buddy Luka Doncic. Maybe a three team trade

well. I don't think this is legal but ESPN trade machine let me do it: Dragic and Boucher to Dallas, CJ and Porzingis and Little to
Toronto and Siakam to Portland.

Dragic/Siakam to Blazers DJ,CJ Simons and future 1st or two to Toronto

then at deadline Toronto flips CJ for more picks

Sadly doesn't. Dragic can't be aggregated with other salary to match.

he can on the 21st. cuz of this abbreviated offseason, that usual 2 month rule is only 19 days now.

ive been waiting to make valanciunas trades in three ways-- his restriction for aggregation expires in a few days.

I’m on the Nance wagon, it would be a blockbuster compared to our FA signings. DJJ/1st rounder should get it done. He plays a position of need and is locked up for 2 years at 10ish mil per. Sounds good to me.

I'd rather trade 4 1st round picks for a star than one for a role player. And, I like Nance. Bucks went all in for Holiday. We should be doing the same thing for big time guys. Less so on the Robert Covington's of the world.

You act as if both are an automatic option. Nance/Zeller would be a huge upgrade off the bench. We built leads consistently in the 1st quarter with our end of season lineup just for Melo/Kanter to throw out away. With a bench of Simons/Little/Nance/Zeller, we'd have a lineup that could build on leads or cut into deficits. Combined with the coaching upgrade, that could make a big difference.

Bucks don't win without Bobby Portis. Clippers don't get to the WCF without Mann. Role players make a difference.

I REALLY like Nance. He'd be a really good fit. However, he has some health issues which prevent him from playing too many minutes. I'm wondering if he would be able to bring it 100% in a 7 games series, for example.

Portland Trail Blazers Receive: F Pascal Siakam

Toronto Raptors Receive: G Anfernee Simons, F Nassir Nittle, F Robert Covington, F Derrick Jones Jr., 2022 first-round pick (top-10 protected), 2024 first-round pick (top-10 protected)

That would leave us with what, 5 roster spots open?

That would be tempting for Olshey because he could keep his beloved CJ, but it would mean Powell would continue playing as a SF. Not ideal.

It's like Neil just refuses to accept that Dame and CJ won't work.
His interview after firing Stotts where he didn't mention CJ and finally admitted that the team needed a real second star had me thinking that he finally got it but I was either reading him wrong or he talked himself back into it.

The problem with interviewing all of those coaches is that he had to have asked all of them if they could make the current roster work and I'm sure they all said yes because they want the job and hubris. Then they probably came up with really smart ways to maximize the roster as is, even though that still isn't going to get the job done. I could see those conversations resulting in Neil flipping back to the idea that he's cherished for so long that Dame and CJ can be the cornerstone of a championship roster.

Hopefully it's all negotiation and we'll see a big CJ+ trade soon that nets us an all star forward that plays both ends of the court.

Or it could be that he wanted to trade C.J. but couldn't find a deal that made any sort of sense.

That's very possible especially if you add that the deal didn't make any sort of sense to him. I think there's a good possibility in his eyes that CJ should be good enough straight across for Siakam or Simmons but that's not how other GMs see it. There still is a chance a deal gets done now that Dame is home and not making any noise about being traded. We'll just have to wait and see.

I think trading for pending free agents to acquire bird rights is going to be Olsheys strategy again, similar to Powell. And it might not come until the deadline.

Some pending free agents after next season that qualify and could be available

PG

Rubio
Dragic
Beverley
Smart
Delon Wright

Wings

Ingles
T. Prince
Knox (RFA)

PF

Thad Young
Harrell
TJ Warren
Boucher
Bagley (RFA)

C

M. Robinson
Gasol
Ibaka
WCS
Bamba (RFA)

Any trade to get a PF can't include RoCo. He's vital IMO to the team's defense, and a quality outside shooter. Trading him is one step forward, one back. Then we will need a wing defender. Not a good move.

What kind of package with Minnesota to get KAT? Is this a needle mover? One of the few all star ready players on a losing squad.

it would move the needle, but the only way it would work is to start with CJ and I don't see any way Minny would have interest in CJ. Or, in any assets a 3 team trade of CJ would generate

What the Hawks will do is something to keep watching. Here's their roster breakdown:

Guards: Young, Bogdanovic, Wright, Lou Will
Wings: Heurter, Hunter, Gallo, Reddish, Hill, drafted Jalen Johnson
Bigs: Collins, Capela, Dieng, Okongwu

They're not gonna be able to play or PAY all these wings. Wonder if we can steal one. I proposed a CJ + stuff for Bogdan and Hunter earlier. Neil would never do that, and probable ATL won't either, but it would be sick for us.

Yeah I don't think they would like the idea of pairing Trae with CJ. Defense would be so bad, historically bad as Trae is probably worse defender in history
