He wants to play for the Clipper,Nets or Knicks because he wants to win a championship.
1. Have you checked those teams out recently? They're not as bad as you remember.
2. All three are primed for free agency, so Jimmy is assuming he can do the Heatles thing with one of the other big name summer FAs.

You don’t need to dump it all at once... you can trade for players with slightly less salary and less years, LMAO... and no matter how emotional it makes you, it will probably happen now that the team is up for sale... that’s why a CJ for Jimmy trade makes so much sense... a new buyer would get 30 mil worth of salary off the books at year end if they choose to... making it much easier to reshape roster to their preference
So you're talking about trades that save you $2M, and yuh consider that a "salary dump"? Lmao. There's no way to shed $30M by years end.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the team only need to shed $7-8 million to get under the tax line?

CJ for Butler will shed near 30 mil after year end, LMAO... you can’t do simple math??

Why do you have to be such a jerk in the waay you respond to everything?

Shedding long term salary? That'd be easier to do on the off-season.

Pot calling the kettle black....

Gronk is saying that Butler is expiring. Trading CJ for Butler reduces the salay comitment for the 19-20 season by almost $30M (assuming the new owner lets him walk)

Nah, not really.

If he meant long-term salary, he should've specified. Simple. Instead he's being snarky.

Fallacy.

Whoever trades for Butler BETTER be offering a 5 Year Max deal.

To Portland: Pascal Siakam

To Toronto: ?

Go!

We can’t give them anything they need.

I’m not sure Toronto actually need anything either. They are properly stacked and very deep. They could use improvement at shooting guard and maybe center but we can’t give them that.

Yes, and I’m only worried about that part. He could be a big bad contract in 4 years. But really you need to take risks.

I'm not on board for trading CJ to pay Butler (kinda injury prone) upwards of $35+ million per when he's a broken down Thibs player at 34 yeas old.

I think we'd have to be willing to take Powell's contract (which went from looking like a steal to dead weight) along with Siakam. I'm not sure the Blazers would take on long term salary though unless it is a mega upgrade.

Something like Aminu and Swanigan (or any one if our salary fillers) for Powell and Siakam might make sense for them. I don't know if that is really much of an upgrade though.

Siakam is underrated. He's solid. Would be a good fit with KAT IMO.

This is more a trade for next summer

Plus our pick. Or a combo of firsts. Could sub Harkless for Leonard as well.

Hayward makes $31M!?!? That's fucking insane.

This season is reminiscent of 14-15. We were high in the standings of the west until Wes went down and then GS blew up.

We won't be able to catch GS, but a WCF spot is wide open this year. We need to make a move to definitively make the conference finals-- what's out there? An Arron Afflalo kinda move would obviously be horrific, but I think that had more to do with the personnel than the idea behind the trade. For the right kinda player, we should move Simons/Trent/Biggie/etc to take on some salary if needed.

I really think big man depth behind Aminu would be useful. A star addition would be cool too.

How about this trade Leonard, Harkless and Layman for Andrew Wiggins works in trade machine. Troubles in Minnesota could solve personnel issues and be a trade dump in salary for them over the next five years.

If we are moving Simons or Trent then the return investment needs have long term potential. I wouldn't mortgage the future for just this year.
Butler would fall under that prerequisite as we could potentially resign him, but I would prefer not moving Simons and Trent for someone to backup Aminu.

I doubt Thibodeau would have much interest in Harkless. He would probably want Turner or CJ instead.
