Turner + 25th pick + some 2025 second for Crowder. Yes they can find better i know, but we should try something.

When it comes to Turner and our pick plus filler...I'd talk to the Rockets and the Heat...both are looking to blow it up..I'd also inquire about Aaron Gordon for the same deal..Olshey has worked with Orlando and Houston on deals in the past....they are also teams that need defense which ET provides and vet leadership for rebuilding rosters...Boston actually could use ET again as well..their locker room fell apart not long after he left and he's a leader

Josh Jackson doesn't fit the Olshey culture.

Apparently he does not fit the Phoenix Suns culture either. Although I am sure if he was a little better he might be given more chances.
As Fake GM of the Suns I read a few articles where his attitude and work ethic were questioned, which is why I traded him too.

I'm not necessarily saying I disagree with you, but the "Olshey culture" is one where the franchise pillars set the tone, lead by example and show younger kids the ropes.

You could just as easily say that Jackson presents an almost ideal Olshey reclamation project -- high rated high school recruit, multi-skilled, languishing in a poorly run franchise with no leader. When you have locker room leaders like Dame and Nurk and a tight, cohesive group, guys like this either fall in line or fall off the map entirely -- at the right price he's a guy I would LOVE to kick the tires on...

Time to look at teams we can dump an expiring on to open up the full MLE for Hood and maybe even another signing on top of it.

Team that stands out is Sacramento. They have a shit ton of cap space (anywhere from $47-$66M depending on Harrison Barnes) but aren’t really a destination for FAs. They have been connected to Harkless in the past and could use a wing. They also don’t have a center under contract currently (WCS is a RFA)

Would they take either Harkless or Leonard into their cap space for a year? Wouldn’t cost them anything else and they’d get their bird rights. We’d open up the full MLE, keep Hood, and maybe add a guy like Rolo, who we most likely couldn’t get for the minimum.

Sacramento wants Horford.

I would try it at the Suns, they seem like the new Nets and dumb enough to take big salary

If we are balancing the roster I wonder if Washington would do Turner+Trent for Mahinmi+Brown.

We could pluck a random C from the G League that would play better than Mahinmi.
I agree but I rather have Mahinmi than Turner for our team. We need as many bigs as we can get, and if it’s an expiring, grab him.

Turner+Harkless for Tyler Johnson?

Suns will not want to take on additional salary and Johnson is their best point guard currently. Even if they sign one via free agency they will need him for bench minutes.

Honestly I prefer Turner over Mahinmi. He’s just extremely bad.

Thats not additional salary and Turner can play point.

EDIT: Math mistake.

I’m going to stay on the Whiteside train. Heat probably want to dump him but not everyone has the money to make it work. We need a center and have the expirings to match. Heat need another ballhandler. There was interest in him a couple years ago. He said he would’ve come to Portland if he hadn’t signed with Miami. Seems like there’s a deal to be made there. Give em Turner and one of Meyers/Harkless.

I know that we have all (rightfully) fallen in love with Little. But he is not at the age or stage of development where he will fit the team's timeline. But what if we could now include him in a trade (I'm assuming we can?). A trade for an established SF that could also free up enough money to sign Hood. I don't know what cap value Nassir would have in a trade. What I am suggesting is something like Little (and a future pick?) plus Turner, Harkless and Leonard for Otto Porter and two years of Felicio. Wouldn't Little fit in a lot better with Chicago's timeline? (I almost want to run this by Hoopsjock before I post it so he can tell me why it's not possible. :) )

Until we officially sign Little he can be traded and doesn't count as salary in a trade. Once he signs he can't be traded for 30 days.

In my opinion, you don't trade a guy who's value dropped in the draft before you see what he can do. If he plays well in summer league it's going to immediately boost his value to the point where teams actually could covet him instead of just being a throw in asset for a trade. I also don't agree with the timeline thing. If he can play he can help sooner rather than later. Simons was considered far away from contributing but it seems like he's so talented that they won't be able to keep him from getting minutes next year.

Sooo, it could work! Who knows how Chicago values him; they didn't have a chance to draft him in the lower lottery.

Turner+Hark for Whiteside+Jones

To me, in reality the team has two timelines. The Nurk/CJ/Damian timeline, and the Zach, Anfernee, Little, and Nurk timeline. They could unload the young guys for a veteran, but he better be really, really good.

Trading Little would be dumb. He will contribute as a rookie just like Collins did, just wait on it. I don’t wanna add more bad contracts just for a short sighted “window” cuz if you don’t win the championship next year, then what? I might’ve advocated for a Gordon Hayward or whatever, and it might sound like I’m flip flopping, but I also smoke a lot of weed ok?
