If we're looking at teams who would want to move out of the draft, I think POR is prolly highest on the list. Rest of the teams seem like their need for a young player matches their timeline on the grand scheme. I'd keep an eye on Philly, though. They have 6 picks.

I think two things will happen

We will trade the 24th pick for a vet.

We will buy a second rounder.

The TPE will probably be used after the draft, but I’d love it if we used it to add another first.

The timing on this will be extremely tricky given our luxury tax implications and impending Nurk extension.

How so? The timing of one really doesn't affect the other.
I was thinking if we use it before July 1, we'd be in the tax this year, making us a repeat offender next year. It's not really likely that we do use it before July 1, but still there could be an instance where we do. Remember the CP to HOU move last year where he was actually traded to the Rockets in June.

Atlanta with picks 3,19,30 and 34 is the team to watch.

They have a ton of options and need all of them to find a way to get better quick.

The kings should take Doncic...but will they? I wouldn't bet on it.
So, anyone have any interest in #30 and #34 for #24?

Or maybe for #26 + #38?

Tax was calculated as of the last day of the regular season. Nothing we do this month affects our taxpayer status for 2017-18 or the clock on eventually attaining repeater status.

Possible TPE targets. Some of these aren’t likely, I just wanted to compile a list of players that could be of some interest to Portland.

Vonleh TPE

Kelly Oubre (+ 24)
Justise Winslow (+ 24)
Buddy Hield (+ 24)
Caris LaVert (+ 24)
Denzel Valentine (+ 24)
Reggie Bullock
Stanley Johnson
Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot
Richaun Holmes
Malik Beasley
Sam Dekker
Troy Daniels

Crabbe TPE

Brandon Ingram (this would obviously include picks and would only be an option if LA lands Lebron/PG,etc. and other shittier teams could offer better picks)
Bogdan Bogdanovic (+ our pick)
Courtney Lee
Jeremy Lin
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
Jeremy Lamb
Jordan Clarkson
Dion Waiters
Tony Snell
Terrence Ross
Jonathan Simmons
Markieff Morris
Eric Gordon
Milos Teodosic
Garrett Temple
Patty Mills
Alec Burks
Danny Green

Contracts that fit Crabbe TPE that teams could dump with a pick attached

Kenneth Faried
Matthew Dellavedova
John Henson
Jerryd Bayless
Marcin Gortat
Boban Marjanovic
Solomon Hill

Kings may have promised Michael Porter Jr. at #2.

It's going to be fun to see who takes the chance on MPJ. Any whisper of even a hang nail is making teams nervous.
His medicals came back better than expected. He'll go to Sacremento at 2, or Memphis at 4.

They won’t take him at 2, that would be extremely dumb. He hasn’t even released his medical record to them. If they still want him they can move back and get additional assets, nobody will take him until no. 5 anyway and I actually think Bulls are the earliest he can go.

Who's your source? I'm sharing actual information I've heard. It's not speculation.

Apparently MPJs medicals came back better than expected. That's why he cancelled his workout a couple days ago.

Memphis would take him at #4.

Just reading the boards and podcasts. I don’t have actual information from insiders of course.

I kind of root for Kings to do the right thing. I want them to improve and end their playoffs drought, taking anyone but Doncic at 2 will just put them in even more misery going forward.

Taking Porter (barely played last year, doesn’t have a huge ceiling anyway and has health issues) or Bagley (whose style of play is outdated and has so many flaws on the defensive end) would be such a typical thing for them to do though. I will be incredibly disappointed if that happens.

Atlanta will 100% take Doncic if he’s available though.

No they wont. Atlanta values Trae Young and Jaren Jackson over Doncic. Doncic could fall to the 6-8 range.

Why are teams so dumb? If Porter and Young go ahead of Doncic that’s extreme stupidity level. I am registered on one Kings board and they are flabbergasted with the idea of taking Porter at no. 2. It’s basically like they don’t know they moved up to 2 instead of staying at 8.

Trae Young vs Luka Doncic isn’t even funny. I won’t diss Jaren Jackson though, he will be legit.

Doncic might be too slow man. Doncic could bust, and have the same issues Lonzo has had. Lonzos a good defender though, which Doncic won't be.

I think Doncic will be amazing. He’s not really that slow and I think his shooting is very underrated because of how many tough shots he takes. Someone has once tried to dig into his shooting and figured out that if he cut all long distance contested threes he would have been 38% from three last season.

He’s incredible passer, has one of the highest basketball IQ in the game, he’s strong and tall. I like him as a prospect at all. Sacramento will be idiots not to take him but then again we are talking about a team that took Robinson, McLemore, Cauley-Stein and Stauskas in the top half of the lottery in the last 6 years.

I just want Kawhi for CJ and the 24. Is that too much to ask for?!

It would give us so much more balance and we could try and get Will Barton with the MLE. Dame with Kawhi and Will on the wings with Chief and Nurk down low. That's a really good team on both ends of the court. That team would be able to defend GS and physically beat them up everywhere. Just give us Kawhi... just this one time.

The Nuggets are aggressively seeking to shed salary by trading forward Kenneth Faried, and the Hawks are willing to accommodate them for the right price, according to a person with knowledge of the NBA trade market.

Nuggets are trying to get rid of Faried's contract. This is the kind of deal we need to get in on with our TPE. Take on Faried's deal and their 14th pick in exchange of a future protected pick and the package 14/24 to either move up or for another player. I believe @hoopsjock had come up with this idea a few months back in my TPE thread.

Unfortunately, at 13.8 mil in 2018-19, Faried is above our TPE limit of 12.969 mil. Maybe if we can swing this before July 1, I'm guessing his 2017 salary of 12.92 mil is obtainable. Been wrong on dates and salary terms before. Can anyone confirm this?

Yeah, as long as it's executed before the new league year we are good. It would have to be anyway if we were trying to move up or trade the pick again.

2 separate deals.
1. Faried + 14 for TPE + 24.
2. Harkless + Aminu + Layman for Parsons + 4.

Faried replace Aminu. Parsons replace Harkless. We win #4 and #14 for #24 in the process.

Stop with these asinine trade proposals already... we are not getting the 4th pick in the draft without giving up CJ!

If Dallas doesn't want to include Barnes why do we HAVE to include CJ, exactely ?

The 4th pick in the draft is a potential superstar... much more valuable than CJ @ 25 mil alone... Parsons is the cost to even trade out.

CJ is a sure thing. Do you want me to recap the Last 15 4th pick in the draft? I understand your point but calling my proposal asinine is a bit too much.

CJ is a sure thing one-on-one ISO ball chucker that is undersized and doesn’t play defense making 25-30 mil the next 3 years... the number 4 pick obviously is not a sure thing, but at the same time top 5 picks are where the highest probably of getting superstars come from... you have to assume some risk for reward... McLillard is a dead end... time to change direction a bit and give this city a chance... and the idea of Memphis trading the 4th pick for Meyers and Harkless IS asinine
