I would choose Layman over Batum right now 1 million percent of the time considering contracts. It's not even close.

The Wiz can do much better than Miles Bridges, a pick, and two bad contracts.[/QUOTE]
Maybe, they really, really like Bridges?

Here's a Porter trade that I'd do.

Washington:
Porter -> ET

Save about $8M this year and shave off a year of his contract. This move makes it possible for them to duck the tax with 1 more move. The cap savings justify the downgrade in talent.

Sacramento:
Skal -> Harkless

Kings get their SF, and Portland gets a reclaimation project at PF. Salary savings gets flipped to Washington.

Portland:
ET + Harkless -> Porter + Skal

Portland upgrades ET's roll on the team, without any additional salary.

Not enough for Washington.

I have watched Porter highlights from last season and if we could get him back to that level he would be a perfect fit here. Great three point shooting (44% on 4 attempts a game), great mid-range shot, basically an offensive force and not terrible on defense (not good either). That contract is so hard to accept though, having $90million locked into Dame, CJ and Porter for the next two years would really be tough. Then again if he gets back 2017-18 form and CJ has a good season and the roster does not succeed as it is you can flip either of those for a different talent. We are not going to be signing max free agents anyway.

Washington would likely want Zach Collins in a Porter trade and Neil wouldn't do it. So fat chance!

I doubt it, they need to be realistic. Porter has neutral value at best but probably negative at this point. Getting rid of that contract would be good for them by itself.

Collins has high value. No chance they get anyone remotely close to this level.

Harkless, Leonard and a first is plenty good. Saves them $6million and probably saved them from the tax, their deals are also a year shorter than Porter’s and probably tradeable in the Summer if they want to shed salary. I wouldn’t even protect the pick, we will not be in the lottery.

What? He's very good defensively.

All stats paint him as good on that end.

I should probably watch him more.

I think we must at least try to get him. He's basically a missing piece in this roster, would help us so much even at a big cost. He's been having a slump this season but he was quite good the previous two seasons shooting 44% from three and getting 14-15 points a night on average, he's a good rebounder, not that turnover prone. We're not going to be able to sign marquee players in free agency anyway.

Christ.

Harrell has turned into such a beast. He's what Faried should've been, the difference being that Harell has DPOY potential.

Obviously now unattainable.

Clippers have done an excellent job during this rebuild. They’ve got some young talent - Shai has been excellent and will likely be a top 10 players from this draft, got some decent looking extensions for Williams, Bradley and Harrell. They are going to have $63million of cap space available next year and could increase it to $85million by trading Gallinari which should be very easy considering his recent form but probably won’t be needed anyway as they can sign two max players and then still extend Harris to go above the cap. They are favourites to land Kawhi and could even play a part in the pursuit of KD or Klay. They are really well run.

Let's figure a way to get Otto Porter. He's the addition that cures the ills IMO. He's available, and Washington wants picks, and expiring contracts..

From July:
Per 36: 23.3PPG on 63.5 FG% and 64.7 TS% (with a 24.7 PER)

That's ELITE level efficiency. The only bigs more efficient than him are simple lob catchers/rim runners, while Harrell creates some of those opportunities on his own. I want to see what he could do with starters minutes. If he had a 3pt shot and got 30+ minutes a game, he'd be an all-star. Hell, his per-minute production is better than guys like LaMarcus Aldridge.

I would definitely love this.

POR Gets: Otto Porter Jr, Markieff Morris, Ian Mahinmi,
SAC Gets: Maurice Harkless, Wade Baldwin,
WAS Gets: Skal Labissiere, Meyers Leonard, Evan Turner, $20M in savings, very large TPE

And then this:

POR Gets: Markelle Fultz
PHI Gets: Al-Farouq Aminu, 2019 POR 1st

Lillard (36) / Fultz (12)
McCollum (35) / Curry (13)
Porter (26) / Stauskas (17) / Curry (5)
Morris (26) / Layman (15) / Collins (8) / Porter (7)
Nurkic (30) / Collins (18) / Mahinmi

Right now we don't have an owner. That doesn't affect anything?
Its hard to tell what it effects the team DOES have an owner. Its not like PA’s stuff went to an auction and no one claimed the team.

The thing is most people believe the owner when the smoke clears will sell the team. What that means in the short term is mostly speculation, because outside of NO and McGowen saying the day to day wont change and some snippets about a plan being in place we dont have much.

My speculation is that they will sell in the next year or two. That they will be very, very risk averse so as to not damage the worth of the team. I have nothing to base that on though its just my own thoughts about it.

CJ + Harkless + 1st rounder for Beal + Mahinimi + 2nd rounder

I think the Blazer would need a deal like this to get them to listen.

Again, why would Washington flip Beal for McCollum and a late 1st? Makes no sense.
