In a vacuum, each of those deals make sense, especially the ATL deal, where you're not only shedding Turner, but also acquiring Prince, The SAC/NY deal is a bit shakier, but becomes a lot more worthwhile if Kanter is re-signed at a more reasonable figure (I don't think he'll command big money this summer).I'm not totally sold on this idea because giving up two future 1sts is something I loathe but what about combining a couple of rumors out there...
Knicks and Kings have apparently discussed a Kanter for Randolph swap but were looking for a 3rd team. Now I'm not exactly sure what they want the 3rd team to do. It could be to take on another contract from the Kings so they don't waste their cap space on Kanter or it could be that the Knicks wouldn't give up a pick for that cap space since Kanter is the better player and the Kings don't want to use their space without a pick involved. I'm going to guess the latter so:
Knicks get Zach Randolph, Skal Labissiere, least favorable of Sacramento's 2019 2nd round picks (they have 3 of them)
Kings get Meyers Leonard, Maurice Harkless, and Portland 2019 1st (with some protection)
Blazers get Enes Kanter
Next we go back to Atlanta and offer:
Hawks get Evan Turner, Caleb Swanigan, and Portland 2021 1st (with some protection)
Blazers get Jeremy Lin and Taurean Prince
Both trades are similar to the Bucks/Cavs salary cap motivated deal. Lineup this year is pretty dang solid in my opinion:
Starters: Dame, CJ, Prince, Aminu, Nurk
Bench: Lin, Curry, Layman, Collins, Kanter
Deep Bench: Simons, Trent, Stauskas, Baldwin, Open roster spot (Acquire a big)
Where it gets interesting is this summer. The Blazers would be down to just $85,738,986 in guaranteed contracts with 7 guys under contract (Dame, CJ, Prince, Nurk, Collins, Simons, Trent). Layman would be a restricted free agent assuming we'd offer him the qualifying offer. Aminu, Kanter, and Lin would all be unrestricted free agents but we'd have full bird rights to go over the cap to keep them if wanted. Baldwin's situation is a little confusing but I believe at worst we'd have his early bird rights so that wouldn't be an issue keeping him if wanted either. Curry and Stauskas would be unrestricted free agents with no bird rights.
Losing the two future 1sts could be potentially bad though if Olshey didn't make the right moves this summer to capitalize on the much better cap situation or if Prince wasn't the answer at SF. The lineup of Dame, CJ, Prince, Collins, and Nurk could potentially be awesome if Prince and Collins developed though. With about $23 million in cap space and a super deep free agent class this summer or retaining some of our own free agents, Olshey could focus on either landing one big free agent (hopefully way better than Turner) or simply roll with the starters the way they would be and build a good bench with that money on bargain free agents.
PS: Please don't respond by saying free agents never come to Portland. As always with my posts I am aware of the history and think there is a difference between cleaning up cap problems and getting cap space in hopes of signing Kevin Durant or some crazy thing like that.
Turner's defense is really frustrating. He plays phenomenal against Harden and then last night he struggles defending Murray. Every game he seems to commit a dumb foul when the other team is in the penalty too or even worse like last night where he fouled Murray before they inbounded the ball and they got a free point (could have been the difference in the game). In a vacuum, each of those deals make sense, especially the ATL deal, where you're not only shedding Turner, but also acquiring Prince, The SAC/NY deal is a bit shakier, but becomes a lot more worthwhile if Kanter is re-signed at a more reasonable figure (I don't think he'll command big money this summer).
If nothing else, I think the lineup post-trade is pretty formidable. Downgrading defensively from Turner to Lin hurts a bit, but the offensive upgrade is worth it.
Detroit has gone into tank mode. I'm not even sure it would take that much to get him if they decide to trade him.I'm going all in on Blake.
I can't handle seeing Aminu out there in crunch time anymore.
Turner, Aminu, Simons, and our first for Blake. Then scope the waiver wires to round out the roster.
Jesus, that contract.Detroit has gone into tank mode. I'm not even sure it would take that much to get him if they decide to trade him.

These are all the 30+ mil contracts currently signed for 21-22. Durant/Davis/Kyrie/Butler/Kawhi/Klay/Harris/Middleton will most likely be joining the list this upcoming summer. And more will be joining in the year after. I think a risk on Blake is justified. There might be an out.
If we're gonna count this year too, then it will be 37 mil for ET, 7 mil for Aminu, and getting back 102 mil for Blake. So adding about 63 mil for Blake and two more years after ET's deal expires.Considering our “assets” Blake is pretty much the best we could do BECAUSE of that contract. I have no clue whether or not ownership would sign off on it though. Portland would be taking on what, $80m?
He'd be our best PF since Sheed. If we're gonna count this year too, then it will be 37 mil for ET, 7 mil for Aminu, and getting back 102 mil for Blake. So adding about 63 mil for Blake and two more years after ET's deal expires.
It's not THAT bad.
If healthy, it's not even a question. He'd be our best PF since Sheed.
A true PF who gets 25 points, 8, rebounds, and 5 assists per game while having a 59.3% TS% would be a game changer. He's only missed 2 games so far this year and I believe they were both 2nd nights of a back-to-back just for rest.If healthy, it's not even a question.

Edit: Can you imagine Nurk having both Griffin and Layman cutting back door for lob passes and easy buckets?
We'd have two top 15 players, and three top 30 players (nurk), and 4 top 50 players (cj) . We'd need the right strategy to maximize the fit, but that talent would be incredible. Just need to make sure Stotts doesn't turn Blake into Lamarcus and put him on the elbow or right block all game.A true PF who gets 25 points, 8, rebounds, and 5 assists per game while having a 59.3% TS% would be a game changer. I addressed the risk earlier. But what exactly is the cost?Blake has averages only 44 games over a season the last 5 years. He has only played 80 or more games 3 times in 10 years. Why would you want a guy you can't depend on. His entire career he has shown his body can't hold up for a entire season. Yeah if he was healthy he would be great, but what do you do when a third of your salary cap only averages a half a season a year.
From that list, I'd MUCH rather have Blake than LoveView attachment 24281

I can't see either Philly or Detroit doing those deals. Not even close.
